The X1 actually seems quite good for SE, but then it is made completely by HTC and the OS is Microsoft. SE only provided the panels interface and that can easily be replaced.

I still prefer UIQ at the moment, maybe in another 6 months WM7 will offer more. I would leave the expensive X1 alone for just now!

I have the P1 and have had the X1 for 13 days, tomorrow it goes back under VF's 14 day return policy.

I find the P1 fast and easier to use. My X1 hangs a few times a day and I have to reset. It takes me longer to do simple stuff like texting etc.

On the other hand X1 is better for media, has a better screen, GPS ets. Depends what you are prepeared to give up for what you may gain from the X1

As for me it is going back

I would wait for the next generation SE smartphones without a micro$oft OS. Not because it's bad, I just don't like it. Or get a G900 untill then. (With HGE-100 you also get GPS on your phone and you can use your favorite headset).

1) I don't know about P1. Other than other feature phone, I've used P800, P910 and P990 and now X1. to me, X1 is the best phone that I ever have. .... and I think I will settle to this phone for quite sometime.

btw... a correction for one poster above....

X1 is designed (concept, drawing board, mechanical design, electrical design, component sourcing, prototype, pre-trial mass pro, trial mass pro, pre-production, QA for each stages and others) by Sony Ericsson. HTC is the manufacturer of the phone.

to make it clear, I give one example. At the end of Sony VHS life cycle, the VHS player wass designed by Sony but, manufactured by Sharp.

I find it puzzling how some people seem to be reluctant to accept this fact.

What about the problems experienced by a user above? In comparison, I've been using an HTC Tytn II for over 2 months now, not a single restart or any kind of problem whatsoever. I've even put a WM 6.1 ROM on it.

Three things that worry me about the X1:

1- Is it stable? I just can't go through another P990 case.
2- Is it upgradeable? As I've already mentioned, I already got WM 6.1 on my HTC, does the same kind of upgrade possibility exist for P1?
3- How compatible is it? I've found out that HTC is probably the reference device for WM, other brands may have just enough differences to make some programs not compatible so that you need a special version for your device.

VF may have messed the phone with their bloatware.

I haven't read such complaints fm X1 users with generic firmware.

Yes. It would appear Voda have caused some issues with the X!.
The only issues i have had with my X1 (now 12 days old) were basically my own fault. I had to try the Touch flo 3D interface on it, before it was properly tested, and i got a number of hangs when changing back to panels interface. Since i removed the TouchFlo 3D, everything has been fine.

It is a generic CPW/02 X1, by the way. I am new to WM, but am totally loving my X1 experiance so far.

Great phone, superb build quality.

@Myth

Then maybe you need to read a bit more as it seems not just the VodaFone or O2 versions have some niggles but also some unbranded ones to.

I really does seem the X1 is a bit of a Marmite device people seem to either love it or hate but i have read of lots of people being very happy with their X1's and it's performance. But also a lot of people that are or have returned or sold them.

If you look on E-Bay for a device that is so new and in short supply there seems to be a lot for sale and they are not all Network branded either.
