HI
My friend recently got a K800 from the CPW on pay and go. The lady at the store had opened the handset etc and put a sim card in it etc for her to use. Now my friend has decided to change her mind about the handset and go for a different phone. She went back to the CPW store they said they cannot exchange it at all. Did not give her a reason thats all they said. Unless its faulty, sorry they said they can change it. She has had it less than 14 days.

Is this true this policy of CPW or can she do something about this or mention a UK consumer law or something to help her? She has been to 2 CPW stores and same answer.

Thanks in advance.

Depends what network it was on. You can change the handset if you change you mind within 14 days only once. But not on T Mobile. And also if its faulty. If they say its cos the box was opened well they opened it. But yes you can swap it only once.

its not on t mobile. if they say they can't do it again, can my friend mention an act in law? since i am sure they are breaking the law by not giving her an exchange for a diff mobile?

Basically you are screwed i had exactly the same issue with CPW this time last year.

I bought a blackberry on contract with orange on the 22/12/07 after 5 days i decided i didn't like the handset and that i wanted to change it for something else.

They wouldn't let me at all and now i'm still paying for a contract i don't use for another 6 months.

I played hell with them and they did absolutely nothing, orange where great and said they'd back me all the way which they did but CPW would not budge at all.

They only way you can cancel is with o2 i think, they have different policies for different networks.

update the phone via SEUS and pull the cable out half way though..

that'll break it.

et voila.

one refund..

/doesn't condone pulling the wool over retailers eyes.

I dont get this. I have taken phones back to them before on pay and go and it says inside their brochure(point it out) in the back that within 14 days if your not happy we will be happy to exchange the phone ONCE for another phone. But no refund like they used to. Go back in store and point that out in their brochure. I hate CPW like i hate Phones4U they always try to fool customers thinking their stupid. I promise you thats what it says in their brochure. It says exchanges on O2 Orange Vodafone but not T Mobile or Orange upgrades. I dont know bloody phone shops.

i used to get from phones from CPW about 10 years ago. they are pretty much one to be avoided. i remember the rumour going round about them selling 2nd hand handsets as new from many many independent sources. they also charged me double for insurance.

i get my phones direct from the network now, and it works out much better. i get next day delivery without fail, and i get to swap a handset within the first 7 days if the phone is not to my taste (not that i've ever swapped a phone, but it's nice to have that reassurance).

CPW? never again. avoid them like the plague!

Well yeah i bought a Nokia 6500 Classic from them and the top of the handset has the cover where the charger and usb goes in. Anyway that was all dented and looked like it had been used and messed with. I returned it but they refused to swap it. I said its not like new its been used. I walked out the store and said DONT BUY FROM CARPHONE THEIR PHONES ARE DODGY. Seriously thats what i shouted i was so angry. And nearly every phone i buy from them its always faulty.

Hey
Thanks for all your replies. Yeah I am going to tell her just to take it back and get it exchanged under 14 day term. However they should deff be investigated like p4u has with da amount of mis selling they do.
