I would like to know whether the spreadsheet in the P800 appears vertically or horizontally?

horizontally (i.e. normal handling of the P800). And you can zoom, and change pages.

No, unfortunately you cannot edit Word or Excel documents on the P800...YET! We just have to wait for an Office Suite to come real soon!!!

I dont think you can edit excel,powerpoint or word documents.
you can only view them
