I think the main problem is that you need to be 18 to be able to complete a credit agreement (as a member of staff) so no phone shops will enploy people under 18.

at Orange you only have to be 16, but as JC has pinted out you can't sign contracts until you are 18..

I thought that, but I start signing them at 16/17, about 6 months after I realised they'd been telling me I couldnt so they could have the sales lol.

Phones4u are advertising for xmas temps who deal solely with the PAYG side of things so I should imagine this would be suitable for under 18's?

Phones4U employ 16+ year olds as far as I know.

Sorry to jump off topic here, but if anyone here works for Orange retail right now, can they PM me please.

Thanks.

you are allowed to work in any mobile phone store from 16+ but to deal with contracts its a legal requirement that you are 18+. same for selling alcohol etc...

i was in tesco the other day and ma fiance (who is 22 but looks about 16) was payin but the guy servin us had to get someone else to age verify ma fiance coz he was only 17 himself.

Orange were happy to take me on as a 16 year old, but that telephone interview... phwoaar - questions I was unprepared for, and on the bus with 40 kids going home from school. Messy to say the least.
