Hi all,
Just wondering if i could get some help. I have a K800 and its an awesome mobile, no matter how abuse it takes it just keeps working and i have lost count of how many times i have dropped this phone. Everytime after i drop it the camera button works fine but recently when i half press to focus and then press down full again to take the photo nothing happens, i dont know whats happening but i press the button full down and nothing happens. Help would be appreciated.
Thanks
IPF

Maybe the contacts for the camera button are loose, search for a K800 disasembling guide and see it for yourself

half press to focus. So press gently and wait for focus (you will hear a beep when it is focussed), then press down firmly to take photo.
Or if don't want to use auto-focus - just press down firmly and hold until photo is taken.

that's the usual problem of k800, i have a lot of friends with the same issue. even worst, some keypad are not working as well..
just have it repaired, i believe they would replace the flex(not sure)hehe

the usual cause(s) are flex failure or flex coming loose - both can be caused
by dropping the phone. you can fix yourself as the parts are on the net
and it's fairly simple to get a k800i apart :-]

Wow I'm so glad I came to this forum, I was just looking through Google trying to find a solution for this.
My camera button is also acting up, though I found that if I apply enough pressure (more than I should have to) and in the right spot, my camera will finally take the picture.
Now since it IS able to eventually take the picture, that must mean that something is just a little loose, right? I'm not sure which flex cable you guys are referring to...I looked on cnn.cn and did not see any replacement parts that seemed to address this problem.
Can anyone be more specific about the problem parts that causes this issue?

i just got this same issue sometime this week... might try see if i can open up the phone to check the camera button as a prev post suggested
in case you still need to take pics, just remember the joystick "button" still allows you to take it
edit: opened her up; cleaned out a heap of dust... everything seemed to be in order so put back together.
hey presto; working again.
weird thing was i knew that camera button was working before i opened it up. although it wasn't taking the photos when in camera mode; when i pressed it in the main screen, it displayed the message to "open the lens"
anyway, working ok for the moment so i'm happy again

I don't think that this is a hardware problem. I have experienced the same problem, i.e. nothing happens when I press the camera shutter button. In most of these cases I blieve it is because the autofocus cannot find anything in the picture to focus on. In such cases, I either turn the autofocus off, or point the camera in a slightly different direction, so that a sharp vertical or horizontal line on the object I want to take a photo of appears within the [ ] brackets in the middle of the screen. Once the autofocus has locked on its target, I can redirect the camera to the original direction to get the composition of the picture I want.
