Hi
I have this major problem. I have a virus on my phone. Its not causing any problems with my phone, but with my pc. The virus copies itself to anything that has memory.
I use my phone as a modem to connect to the internet. So even if I remove the virus from my pc, the virus copies itself from the phone to the hard drive as soon as I want to connect to the net. I tried to format my M2 card and master reset my phone, the virus doesn't seem to disappear.
The only thing I can think of now is reflash, but I don't know. Plus here aren't any Sony Ericsson dealers that can do it for me. So I was hoping that one of you guys can explain it to me if that possible.
Thanks
Jade

Just get a good antivirus for your pc like norton. Update it. Scan your computer, your phone and your mem stick. Virus will be detected and can be deleted from your phone then.

Getting rid of the Virus on your PC will stop it from getting onto your phone. Reflashing your phone should get rid of the virus but it will just reappear as soon as you plug your phone into the computer again if you havent got rid of it from the computer.
Its a bit like saying you pricked your finger on a needle so you cut your finger off stop it happening again.

usually what gets infected is the memory stick. phone's memory stays intact. so try to check your m2 and your computer's.

1.I'm planning to format my HDD after I reflash my phone.
2. The virus deletes all viruses. My previous AV (ESET) was deleted by this virus.
3. I did format my HDD before. The virus wasn't on the pc anymore. So I removed my M2 card from my phone and connected it. After my phone was connected the virus was there. This virus disable task manager and so much more. So immediately after I connected my phone, without the M2 memory card, I press Alt+ctrl+del. No task manager. That is how I know the virus is on my phones memory.

Make sure you delete your restore points & then run your AV software.
You will probably find that your AV wont remove it from your restore folders.

This virus is especially known to delete norton on site. The virus deleted the .exe files. So I can't use the AV anymore. I did download my AV, so I don't have a CD to reinstall. All my important data is backed up safely. I don't want another AV because they are annoying and do more harm than good (Please don't comment on this statement, that will be another argument for another day). All I want to do is reformat everything. HDD, USB devices, M2 card and my phones memory. The latter is a lot more difficult to do. (a) I don't know how. (b) I don't know how to restore the software like the firmware and java.
Can anyone help me with that.
