> Phone or Memory Card Memory?
Bookmark topic
Hi all
Just wondering. Where is it that people tend to save most things on the mobile. the phone memory or memory card? I tell you what I do. on my k850. I have all my sms so it saves to the mem card, my pics, music files, and even themes. Is it best to keep it this way. Or do some people save items on phone memory too, even if they have a memory card. I mean if i save stuff on the phone memory. I guess it will just slow up the phone right?
I mean sometimes when I am accessing my sms from my inbox it can take a few seconds. I don't know if this will be a bit faster if i saved it all to my phone memory the sms.
thanks in advance.

no one has really quite answered my above question. must be someone who knows. if storing all your sms to the memory card can affect the speed of accessing your sms inbox, compared to storing them in your phone memory?

Wel I have two phones.
My motorola v360 with a 1GB mem card and it saves sms to the phone but but it is ultra fast when retrieving sms.
My Nokia N73 too is ultra fast with the sms stored o the phone. I think that it is only slow when you
quickly go through your gallery. I have seen that from experiance.
I dont like saving most of the important stuffs on the mem card because it get hit by viruses. I have formated now and again

Hi Mr Miyagi
As always a lot depends on the device and OS you are using but for me as it's now force of habit all App's, Themes and Ringtones are saved in the Phone memory. Whilst my Music, Documents, Pictures and Videos usually all go into a memory card.
The reason for this is apps and themes just seem to run better and faster from the phones memory and also it means if for any reason i want to remove the memory card it didn't cause any problems or require me to reinstall my apps when i put it back in. Anyway that's my preference or was but currently i am even storing Documents on my Phone memory as my current device has a whole 1GB of storage giving me 9GB with an 8GB card.

Marc, not everyone owns a Bold.
Most

phones have a paltry 50-100MB on board which is barely enough to store apps, themes etc. The problem is exacerbated in the case of UIQ devices where a P1i or N95 can run out of NAND memory pretty quickly.

Most of the time i save all the data on my 4gb card. My phone memory is merely 32 mb. It has only those items that cannot be moved or deleted. I thought that keep free this memory would help to process the phone faster. But after coming across memoryup application, i think this has nothing to do with it. The RAM memory is related to speed of processor. My K850i has 1 mb ram. On contrary, when my card was full, only 20 mb left, the phone started to leg, though the phone memory was all free to 32 mb. When my card's free memory reached 70 mb, the phone started processing fast.
So, i think both free memory and RAM memory required for speed.

am the same as dogmann... important apps stored on phone and not so important ones on mem card. the apps do load up a lot quicker from phone memory than memory card so it is more noticeble whilst using apps than anything else.
On my G1 i have about 5 apps running on phone memory and another 6-7 running off mem card (after finally managing to run a hack to run apps of mem card, thanks android!) and they load a lot quicker off the phone!
Music and pics shouldnt make a huge difference.

well for me my general rule is that stuff like apps that need to run faster will be saved on the phone memory since it's faster to access, while the bigger files such as pics, vids, etc go in the memory card...the only exception to the rule is the nokia n90 where it actually read faster from the memory card
