when i synced my t65's calendar with outlook, the birthdays appeared in the phone, but although everything seems to have synced fine, birthdays don't appear now in the p800.

Yo have to manually enter the birthdays into the Outlook field. Then use for example Handydays to view the birthdays of your contacts.

The P800 does not transfer ur birthdays and anniversaries from outlook, somehtign to do with not supporting @Full Day Events@. Below is an email I got from SE Support back in May. I changed phones soon after that so dont knwo the current status with newer frimware upgrades:
Dear Rizwan,

Thank you for contacting SonyEricsson Customer Care Center.

The phone does not support synchronization of all day events. At the moment is not planed to bring the feature in future.
The P800 now supports delivery reports with the latest software revision: R2D This can be accessed by clicking on the @ sign at the bottom of a new mail message. Then select the delivery report from the drop down box. This is still network dependant
-As far as product has been tested by R&D, the only Bluetooth car handsfree supported is the Sony Ericsson HCB-30 Bluetooth Car Handsfree
