Wrong there was an expiremnts some years ago which they transported electricty from on station to another whitout any cables, only downside to this is that evrything between the "beam" gets fried, they are developing this for some kind of solar station in space

Yeah, I was going to mention the fried bit. Maybe we could have two transmitters tied to trucks driving along parallel roads and have the electricity transmitted across the fields. That way, as soon as you go past a cow, its ready for McDonalds!

Just on the subject of transmitting electricity through the air. I suppose one could transmit energy through the air and use that to generate electricity at a remote location. I know it's not the same as actually transmitting electrcity, but it's a workaround.
