I'm going to be working Christmas - hope there's one or two other souls out there who are working too to reassure me!

Today (22nd) is almost my last day off until next year, after today I'm at work with only one day off in about the middle until 3rd Jan I'm a psychiatric nurse, patients don't have a day off from their illness so I guess I'd better go in! Looking on the bright side though, the money should be good!

So, who else is working, and what do you do if you are? We can start a 'working on Xmas day' support group lol

Unbeknown to most of you, we have a family Bistro, and we have 12 covers on Xmas day, so Me, Mrs, son and daughter will be busy

I have about the worst possible shift on Xmas day - a late shift, starting at 13.45 and not finishing till 21.30! At least I get my Xmas lunch, albeit a bit early and with no alcohol!

Edit: Your bistro looks nice Mweb! Sadly a bit far for me, though might look you up if I'm in your area!

Wish I had work so that I could be working at Christmas!
Can't get a proper job without GCSEs... which will be in the Summer!
Honestly though, I really can't understand why employers don't take a 2nd look at you, even though it's clear that some places do hire complete dumbarses, but somehow, they're better than people without GCs, because we don't have little certificates to show we know what Pi is.
Stupid, stupid world.

Grr.

@arien - hope you find a job soon, have you thought about being a carer or a nurse, there should be some jobs still in that profession, not really been hit by the credit crunch! Even if just to keep you going until you can find something you want to do career wise - it might even make you change your mind!

@bonovox - thanks, your sentiment is much appreciated

Thanks. I know how many long hours doctors and nurses work. And working at christmas well i guess someones gotta do it. The sad reality is my mother died ten years ago just before christmas and the doctors and nurses were amazing how they looked after her. She was the best Irish woman alive god bless her.

It has crossed my mind, Sammy! But I'd rather get into something that is one of my big interests, like the motor trade, photo labs, electronics/gadgety sales, something which I can excel at, just to do while I'm in the Sixth Form, and then it'll be Uni from there - fingers crossed.
