hey all.. im newbie in here..
nice to know all of you here..

anyway i want to ask about multitasking in p990. why the multitasking goes not too good in this p990i.. everytime i am using messenger in this phone, and then im trying to minimize it, open another application, and when i want to goes back using messenger, it closed by itself. i just think the memory is not enough to open another application when im using messenger..

anybody knows why and what the solution is? thanks...

Exactly. its ram memory is not enough. no way to increase it though.

Sure, P990 is a great device. And it could be better, if only... if only SE put on it at least 128MB, and followed with firmware updates... it's a pity.

this issue (putting low RAM on P990) is the bigest mistake that SE have done till this date (from 2002 to 2009) !!!

Well, let's not exaggerate.

A P990i with latest firmware is definitely capable of minimizing the messaging application and run other applications.

Try to update your firmware through SEUS.

If you use Swiss Manager and only keep 2 memory hogging apps open at the same time then the P990i is a perfect phone. The latest FW is stable and with a bit of management the P990i can be a great device.

well i guess i've updated it until the newest firmware. but im not too sure.
anybody can tell me how to checked it? and what is the newest firmware? the problem is, when im minimizing messenger application (showing 2xxx k in task manager) and opening the other application, the messenger application closed by itself. so i must login again...

@ NiekyG

this is not exaggerate..Im serious ...around 2005-2006 everything is ready for big show of UIQ 3..according to huge success of P900/P910 everybody waits for next line of UIQ ...

If SE puting better size of ram on P990 many factors has changed...but after release of P990 with first firmware we have only 14-13 mb free ram...ok..ppl wait for another update and another update....and more and more...if im not wrong around 7-8 update on couple of months...now this device has 20 mb on startup and firmware was very stable...yes..great job but not enough...not real multitasker

ppl paid for P990 around 700 USD less or more on release or 1-2 month later...

( aslo on M600/W950 we have this problem)

So when company like SE that cant release like nokia 20-25 smartphones in year must have a big attention with small amount of market share they must release the BEST thing that can offer not like this ....

and after those years SE change mind and go for P1/W960 with huge RAM but on mind of many cutomers nothing changed ...SE symbians phone r Crappy!!....as easy as that...

Im SE fan ...buying P990/P1 and now I own G900 but ordinary customers dont think like me...

SO this is the bigest SE mistake for sure...

lol... i dont have enough resources of money to buy every new product of SE release.. but i like SE more than Nokia.

hope SE wont make the same mistake again in its new product such as XPERIA.. lol..

anyway i just see that only around 8.5 memory available by using application above. but i didnt open any application. when i open messenger application, the parameter goes to red... and the remaining is only around 4-5 mb.. is this normal?
