Hello and TIA for anyone who helps me.
I have had my eye on the Omnia for a few months now and love the features/ both hardware and Software, my problem is the price.
I am just wondering whether to buy another similar phone (Pixon) or change idea totally and go for something like the X1. My question is, does anyone know generally when phone prices are reduced? eg. before christmas to sell more, or summer sales?
Because my dilemma is to either wait it out until the Omnia comes down in price meanwhile being without a smartphone which i need or, buy an alternative cheaper phone now and be dissapointed in the future when the omnia eventually does come down in price.
Oh yeah i wanted to buy the omnia in about 4 - 6 months time... any guesstimates on what the price may be - unlocked?
thanks for any help / advice given.
Rob.

Hi Rob,
How much are you expecting to pay for the Omnia?
They go on eBay for around the £250 area at the moment, so in 4-6 Months you will be looking at say £150-£200 depending on what else comes along in that time, but if your buying on the High-Street then you will be looking at around £380-£420 and possibly not that much of a drop over the next few months,
Have you considered something like the iPhone, BB-Storm or G1?
Also would you not be interested in taking out a contract and getting the phone for free that way?

no not interested in contracts, am on an orange price plan which is PAYG / contract and is perfect for me.
And i am a bit dubious about Ebay, had some bad experiences and = no warranty if anything does go wrong although i will have insurance.
I was hoping the high street prices would be a little lower, but suppose that's life.
And sorry i have tried the Google phone - it is a good phone and i like it but it just isn't for me. I can;t imagine living with it.
I am the opposite to an Apple fan-boy and hope never to buy an Apple product

- hate the iphone, over-rated for what it is.
And have never used a Blackberry to be honest, so can't really comment. It looks like a good phone from reviews but seems a little big and chunky when i had a look at the models they have in phone stores.
The omnia is perfect for me, have tried it out, love the size, the features, just not the price.
Anyway thanks for you advice/ help.

keep your eyes out at small local phone shops.
I was suprised to see one for sale amongst a few other mobiles at a local shop near me.
I enquired how much it was and was suprised to be told it was £140 second hand of course so had a few marks and scratches on it thop nothing too serious.
It came unboxed and only had a charger.
I wasn't on the look out for one of these but at that price I cudnt resist.
I had to buy a data cable as annoyingly its a samsung own connector jobby.
Just goes to show whats lurking out there. I got a W950 from the same shop when they were still valuable for £140 as well and had no problems with.

@voda_jon, one of my friends has a G1, and i tried it out. It's not that it is a bad phone because i like the features it has. It just isn't the phone for me.
I was surprised how responsive the screen was on the G1 considering it is resistive touch screen. One of the best i have tried.
However,
it is just something about the omnia i fell in love with:P when it was announced. The looks, the features, and the feel of it when i have tried it out.
I am still waiting to see if i can pick it up a bargain online. Cheapest i have seen anywhere so far is 300 quid (8GB). Hopefully it will have another reduction sometime soon.
Thanks for all of your help and recommendations...
