Now, i know ATT won't unlock phones...but do they have the capabilities to do it...

But why not just do it yourself? All you need is a cable $20, a computer (which you apparently already have), and server logs $8/ea. Once you have the cable you can unlock all your friends at $30 a pop and make your money back on the cable.
You can use the same cable to flash your phone too.

Just be careful if you decide to follow the advice of highrez. What he is not telling you is that if something goes wrong while unlocking the phone or flashing the phone the warranty becaomse void meaning you would be SOL...

Bigdawg is right, it's happened to others on this board, if not done correctly or there is a problem flashing the phone, it will be a nice 5oz paperweight, as it is not possible to default back to the original programming, and ericsson won't touch it.
