Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to unbrand/debrand my K790a. It is locked and branded by Rogers. I don't care if I cannot unlock it, its just the branded software that sucks. I've heard of wotanserver and davinci team, but i am not really interested in spending money on the process unless there is no other way.

unbrand means that you take off the branded firmware and flash your phone with a generic firmware. if you want to unbrand it, just get a generic firmware from www.4shared.com and follow this tutorial: Tutorial: XS++ General Usage (Flashing, Customizing and File System Operations)

Any suggestions on which generic firmware to use? I did a search for "R8BF003" which seems to be the latest based off wotanserver's website.

Those are the two that i am thinking of using... i am just not sure what the difference is. The first one says ev_red52 and the second one has fs_..._2_red53

Not sure what those mean, the red52 and red53, do they have anything to do with teh CID52 and 53 stuff?

My phone's service menu says R1JC0002 at the top and R3B021 at the bottom... if it makes any difference...

well, you need to know first what cid your phone is. how? you either connect your phone to xs++ or setool 2 lite. in this case i'll show how to connect your phone with xs++: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=159658
