I see some people in Esato that already have X1 and already considering to buy N97, and have ton load of other high-end phones. Do you think it's actually true? Or they're just pretending being rich?
What am I? All what I have is very old K510i, and struggling to buy the G900i which I want to have. I really need a good and durable phone, so I won't buy any used phone because
there is a reason why do people want to sell their used one. I really hope the G900i will be the durable phone, at least for 2 years.
Even my friend is much poorer than me, her cheap Samsung slider phone's screen broke so she had to use her grandma's old non-multimedia flip phone.
Is that just me, or there actually plenty of really wealthy people that can throw Nokia 5800 XpressMusic away and buy N97 because they think it's better.

They're not necessarily rich, but they have jobs so they can afford the occasional treat. And considering it is a mobile phone forum, it is quite obvious that the occasional treat would more often than not be a new phone.
Also, I might add that, judging from your previous posts, you are quite young. Many members here are probably a lot older than you, and therefore are more likely to have the income and savings to afford phones.

Just today, I saw 8 years old looks boy, taking out the Nokia N95 from his pocket.
No, it's not about the age. :/

They've probley robbed it or mugged/stabbed someone for it or they spoilt kids with overly rich parents.

It's all priorities at the end of the day - if you live for gadgets you'll find the money to pay for them, have all the phones you want, and just live in a smaller house and drive an older car.
Also don't forget that many people trade their phones on a regular basis, so only go from one to the next by selling on their older handset - they'll lose a little money each time but not so much as all that.
If you're on a contract, you're always paying for the cost of the subsidised phone the network gave you to begin with, so if you don't get an upgrade every time you're entitled to one (at the end of each contract term) you're basically robbing yourself.

Very good post. Thanks.
Contract system does not exists in Russia, so that's the problem. You either buy the phone from store or buy the used phone from some small shop. Normally they're unbranded. We use SIM card system, too.
I don't have many relatives or such to trade phones like that.

any of us do not trade with our families. We trade outside with random people we have never meet.
I must admit I have noticed more and more young kids using expensive phones, however times change also I guess some parents and older siblings pas their phones down.
Thinking of it more ever since I got interested in phone when I was around 14-16 I had top end phones. I however funded them all by myself paying for my bills and hand sets myslf, but making money by trading and fixing phones.
I disagree with your statement though. I do not feel people sell phones for a reason, many just get bored of them. Until I got my iPhone and 8800 before that I would change phones every few months or more. I think since I was 16 I have had well over 300 hand sets, and I am sure people on here are the same... But on that note since I bought an iphone and am happy with it I only changed once and that was to a larger size and at the time it cost me nothing...

No it's not solely about age, but it is
more likely you'll be able to afford them when you're older, because it is
more likely you'll have a good job.

As someone said it's about priorities, By the age of 22 I had had a B&O Serene and a Vertu Ascent, nothing at all to do with being rich, in fact, I work very hard, like 75 hours a week hard to fund my gadgets...
