My Dad has just got his phone bill, and has been hit with a £26 charge for a premium rate number.
He doesn't phone these numbers (so he tells me), and the phone company have told him to try and track the number using phonepayplus.org.uk, which says, number not found, cause for concern?
The number is 09826619621.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated.

Cant find anything on google. I would suggest going to a phone box, put in £1 and phone it. See who answers.

Have spoken with him, and he insists he didn't call (whatever)

Just been round to my Dads house, and apparently the day the call was made, nobody was home, as his wife was having her hair done, and he was with her.
Can people use other peoples phone lines? Or is it likely that the company have put it on his bill in error.
He is with Virgin Media.

he could of had his phone jacked through bluetooth. People can call numbers on your phone without you knowing.
Longshot but if his phone is quite old perhaps? just trying to give u some ideas.

Sorry, but this is his house phone. He has spoke to the company, and apparently his line was hacked, which has now been sorted by an engineer. And they have apologised.

Spoke to someone else I know yesterday, and he has had the exact same thing happen to him, so it seems like any Virgin Media customers should look at their itemised bills.

not being funny but i get ths sort of thing all the time....... orange telling me ive signed up to things when i havent...... especially those numbers..... and i havent signed up to them....
theres not alot you can do i believe

They have both got it sorted, but it appears someone has been hacking into Virgin Media, and placing these calls on people's bill.
