I got 12V car charger. I tried to charge phone through it, using standard data cable. Phone does show only information "You could use your phone from computer...", but doesn't seem to charge. Normally, when I charge, it has this little yellow flash on battery icon.
Any suggestions? Do I need second cable, just for charging?

It is on. Strange. I had no chance to try other device with this charger, but I guess since it starts some activity in the phone when I connect it with data cable, than it should be working. I will try it again today, I have a long drive today.

Is it a genuine car charger or a good quality non-gen one? I've had many a problem with a cheap or fake charger, including one exploding!

Does the data cable charge when plugged into a pc/laptop ?
I had a data cable for my k800i that was just that - data only. The pins
for charging were not there !!!!

I charge only by this cable via my PC, so it is not the problem. I've tried car charger today quite shortly, but it didn't seem to charge. I guess when there is no charging symbol, it's not really charging...

The message "optimized charging" and the
logo only displays for a couple of seconds, after that, the only indication of that the phone is charging is a different battery indicator icon, with some kind of animation in it.

Yes, my cable is DCU-60 (came with phone) + USB charger - car charger with one USB slot.
There is no animation, or logo on phone. That's the problem.

I guess the clue of your problem is the cable. Checkout the pins at fast port. If there are only 4 the cable is most probably usable only for 'intelligent charging', ie. from computer slot. To cowork with dumb car charger, you will need another USB cable with charging pin active (compare with fast port pin layout at pinouts.ru)
