Greetings, connections via USB extension are unreliable, net disconnects too often, file transfers have too many errors etc. Short connection directly to case is ok. Is that bad cable or is it by design -loss in length (3m). Also I have tried another, new cable with same results. Does cable outfit (HQ or standard) impact considerably transfer quality? Would I have more luck with shorter (1.8m) extension? Thx.

It is due to cable length and quality. I have similar problem with a new 1m cable. Once I had a 2 m which did work perfectly. I guess they build those cable with low quality wirings.

I'm afraid so but i bought two different cables and both present same problem. How many cables should I buy? On other hand if the cables were ok they should have been invisible (transparent) to any software incl. drivers. Any solution ? Will I have luck with HQ type cable?

USB is not made to be extended just by itself, you must add more power. To do that either use an active usb cable (one that has an extender thing on the end) or use a usb hub.

That sounds probably.
According to Wiki USB article I was under impression USB2.0 can be self extended up to 5m without supplying any active components
My USB hub gives 5v/500mA

Is that true active cables eat charging channel for self? I need to power my phone. Will the problem disappear on passive cable when turning off phone charging?
Just wonder all active extensions start at 5m(16ft)...
