I live in the US. I just bought an unlocked C905 off of eBay. Everything works fine with the phone except 3G and MMS. I cannot connect to 3G at all and MMS won't work at all. Can anyone please offer some advice?

go to the website for your country.

go to phone support. select phone. and download wap and mms settings.

the site will send the settings to your phone. just follow the steps it gives you.

im assuming you have the american version?

Is there a 3G network in the US?

there should be a "get settings" option on the phone.
it sends a message to your network operator who ten send back the wap/mms settings.

uh oh...

Looks like you bought the international (or "i") version. America uses a different band of 3g than the rest of the world (Don't ask me why) so you have to get the american (or "a") version if you want 3g. Since you have already bought it, then there is nothing you can do except ask for a refund.

You should be able to use the C905i in the US. It all depends on the operator I guess.

Check the list here

First off the c905a is not out yet, therefore the c905 is all you can get. Secondly the c905 will work on EDGE if it is incompatible with 3g, and yes the c905 does not have US 3g bands so you would have to use it with EDGE. Thirdly, whoever suggested returning the phone is an ass, when I sell a phone on Ebay and a purchaser makes a mistake that's not my fault, they can relist if they want but don't ask to send the phone back.

thank all of you for your feedback. i actually made sure to check the bands before i bought the phone. my c905 operates on gsm/gprs/edge 850/900/1800/1900 umts/hsdpa (read it strait from the box). having said that, shouldn't it work with att 3g?

also, i tried to use the get settings feature both remotely and from my comp and that didn't work. on the se sight i cannot match my phone with my country and carrier b/c it is not released over here yet. i was able to go click on support for c902 and then change to c905 once at the internet/mms/email set up page and that worked fine for the internet settings... just not mms.

so basically what i'm wondering is if anyone can spell out the proper att settings for this phone b/c i need to put them in manually. thanks again!

No, it shouldn't work.
Your C905 doesnt have the 850 mhz band to work with ATT 3G.
The C905a has the 850 mhz band that is needed to work with ATT 3G as it is Tri Band HSDPA.

I really dont know why SE made this and not like K850i (only version, Tri Band HSDPA) a true world phone.
