Hello I just upgraded the iphone of my boss to 2.2.1 knowing that Quickpwn will unlock and jailbreak it,but I didn't saw that the power switch is not working!!
When using quickpwn and it needs to enter DFU mode I couldn't do it,so I tried the ''alternative without buttons pressed'' method, under Vista and XP 32 all it's doing is to push the iphone to recovery mode(USB cable and CD logos on the iphone screen) instead of the total black screen of DFU!!!
Tried iliberty and ziphone DFU modes but the result is the same
I am now downloading the 1.1.4 ipsw, perhaps the fw 2.2.1 doesn't work with ''forced'' DFU mode right??
Can I just use itunes to downgrade to 1.1.4 and bypass DFU or whatever I do I am stucked? yes the iphone sim card is now locked

For a start, which iPhone is this...1st or 2nd gen? ZiPhone tool etc should be able to get it in to DFU mode no matter what firmware it's running... as it's just mimicking the key presses. Forget 1.1.4 also, no need to downgrade it that far back

Are they any ways to bypass dfu to unlock 2.2.1??

Theres another way to unlock a 2g without using PC software, bootneuter from Cydia, but you'll need to have it jailbroken first. If you could 'obtain' a custom build firmware from 'somewhere' (google it ) which you could then Restore to the iPhone using iTunes... that'll get it jailbroken and then use bootneuter from there on. However, i'm not 100% on the compatibility of bootneuter with specific firmwares it'll definitely work with 2.0 and up but not so sure on 2.2.1. I guess it would be seeing as the 2G baseband is not an issue anymore, and will always be unlockable

It's weird that DFU doesn't work but itunes restore yes!
I will try to build my own custom FW with winpwn,if this doesn't work I will return the iphone to my boss telling him that it's a hardware issue

lol cool

Just be sure of the options you're choosing in winpwn, like activate etc. I'm assuming you'll need to use this to activate the phone, as i take it it's being used on an unofficial network. Obviously winpwn only goes up to a certain firmware (cant remember which one, but I know it doesnt work with 2.2.1)

Thats definitely your alternative option.

Have you also had a look at iPhuc to try getting it in to DFU mode?
