> SE Xperia & Audi MMI: does it work?
Bookmark topic
Dear All,
I am planning to buy an Xperia in replacement of my K750i.
Only thing stopping me for the moment is the uncertain integration with the MMI (Nav +) of my 2006 Audi A6.
With the K750i I enjoy full MMI integration: phonebook available for multiple numbers per contact, dailed, missed & received calls are usable (SIM access not important to me)
Checked with Audi dealer; answer was as expected: "phone is not on the compatibility list so we think it will not work. No timing can be given on possible compatibility check by Audi Germany"
Google gave some contradictory answers: in some cases the Xperia worked fine (Audi TT model & A4), in other cases no access to phonebook or call history was reported
Anybody with experience in this area?
Many Thanks!

the x1 is a windows mobile based device, if you can find a friend that has a windows mobile based device you connect it to your car bluetooth device you can try it out. it supports all bluetooth profiles v2.0 for further information do a search here (register first)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=470 I have found many answers to my questions and of course help in many ways.

I'm using Xperia with my A4 (2007, not MMI, just built in BT handsfree).
It synchronises the telephone book to the car and then I can dial up or answer using the buttons on the steering wheel.
But it can not show swedish characters at all, so it presents a { or a [ or something like it instead.
My trusty old p990i showed the swedish characters just fine.

One ugly solution would be to rename all contacts that use swedish characters, change Å > A, Ä >A and Ö > O or something like that.
But that really stinks IMO.

All,
Thanks for the reply
Mathios
Did exacly what you adviced: posed on the forum (some positive feedback fast!) & tonight we has some friends over who had a mobile device: HTC Touch. Had a quick connect to my Audi: apparently it loaded all received, missed & last calls & phonebook was visible as well.
Did not actually make call, but assume this will be least of the issues ??
I assume if this HTC touch works, the Xperia should be OK
Will take the "risk" & will let you know when I got mine

Mattil & Mathios,
Thanks for the feedback!
Got my Xperia yesterday & after hooking it up to my Audi it workes like a charm
Full MMI functions, only difference with previous K750 is the names in the phonebook are ordered by first name in staed of last: no issue for me
BTW: xperia is a VERY nice piece of equipment!
Regards

there is an option in the contacts app to manually go to ''first name, last name'' or you can install active sync on your pc and sync your phonebook with outlook and then correct them manually on your computer then sync again with the phone and get all contacts in the right order.

This is what I see in my Audi (Swedish Xperia).
Seems strange, anyone have any ideas on where the problem lies ?
