> What are the most innovative brands?

what do you think the most innovative brands are, and WHY(for example, mention some of their innovations)?
by innovative, i'm referring to hardware or software innovations that one brand developed that was adopted by other manufacturers

Id say most have had their moment. SE with the W900 having a powerful GPU for its time, NOKIA with the N91 and its audio hardware, N93 with its brilliant VGA 30FPS, 3x Optical Zoom video recording,extremely powerful GPU, AND form factor, 7650 for bringing in Symbian S60, N95 for having all the N93 has in a smaller more pocketable package as well as how the N95 except for optical zoom, as well as how NOKIA have kept the N95 updated, to this day its STILL getting updates. MOTOROLA, generaly for alot they've done for the mobile industry but for ME the E398, the best music phone at the time, this phone came way before its time, and Apple iPhone, well just look at the forums and sales stats, you even get sites made for the dam thing.

many of them are not quite what i had in mind when i said innovations because most of them aren't. i was referring to such things as developing new form factors, new technology that becomes adopted by other brands, software features that become standards, etc.
whilst the e398 was the phone that became most known for its twin speakers, it wasn't the first - the moto e1000 was.
the iphone is not a device that is innovative as it contains nothing thats new or innovatie apart from multi touch(ie because apple bought the company that did the actual innovating, unsurprisingly). the mini 'revolution' brought by the iphone is down all marketing and hype rather than doing anything new.
please remember that sales figures mean zilch.

Neonode with their optical touchscreen. I have tried it and it really works very good. Way better then i thought it would do! The operating system was smooth too. Too bad I only tested it for a couple of minutes. The sweep style interface were smart and easy to use!

They went bankrupcy a couple of months ago
Ericsson R310 must have been first of its kind, right? Well, people are still using that phone and that explains a lot, I think!

I can´t believe there´s still people saying the iphone is just ´marketing´... Wake up and smell the coffee please... How many touchscreen phones with finger-friendly UI, app stores and advanced browsers have you seen on MWC this year? LOTS.
I think Ericsson was really innovative and
too in the early years. Nowadays in terms of functions Nokia is always a tiny bid ahead of everybody. The catch is that ´more functions´ don´t necessarily make a better phone

SIEMENS- slider phones, first 'colour' screen even if it was really only 3 colours. PHILIPS- voice dialling.

Siemens almost bancrupt
Moto almost bancrupt
SE resigned a lot of ppl this year... so I can presume...
