i dont know how many of you people who have notice this with your SE shooters (with LED flash), i found it out some days ago when i was testing night pictures with my new firmware. (before i nearly always had the flash turned OFF because i thought the flash on c902 did more bad then good on lowlight/night, but after i saw the result i changed my mind pretty fast)

some test-examples:

lol, the weak led flash on those pics doesent have any effect at all plank

The phone tricks itself and think it could use a lower Iso (darker picture) because the flash is activated and when you turn it to off the phone chooses a higher iso to let more light in.

So itīs the same as locking the iso low to get a nicer looking shot with less noice but what we really would want is a brighter picture but sharp.

But nice to know how to get lower iso when you canīt set it in the phone

The flash has fixed colour correction thats why the colours are better & probley uses quicker exposure time.

LED have small color correction to make white light warmer. pics are better because of reduced ISO, LED off = ISO 400, LED on = ISO 200. it's because of the trick in C902 driver when LED is on...

- focused outside macro range = ISO 200
- focused inside macro range = ISO 100 (to avoid overexposure)

macro range starts from ~20cm

in this way you can virtually boost LED power, change ISO 200 to ISO 250, 320, 400

well, i dont care "how" it effect my pictures. i only know what i see........
and i see MUCH better lowlight and night pics. (thats pretty much what i said and showed you guys)

Pitzon, (i know the flash make the phone use a lower iso-level....etc), besides we speaks about 2 different things.
you speaks about that a normal cellphone flash dont produce light enough to make some hugh different, (well, thats quite basic and true).
i just meant what a great different you get after using this type of LED....(think its a genius function)

however, lowlight/night has been much better then before, (sharper, warmer colours, less noise...) which is glad news

Now that's a bright idea: write a driver that overexposes the picture, and then ask people to use the flash so that it tricks the camera into thinking there is more light and it lowers the exposure.
Why make it simple when you can make it overcomplicated?
That's what I call pure genius!

I just laughed at the "genious" part of the thing. It would be more genious to let us lock the iso ourselfes and with the flash off to save battery. On those scenerys the led doesent do a thing. Even a xenon flash wouldnīt reach the objects you are shooting. Letting us set the iso ourselfs and the exposure time would be genious. Put the phone on a flat surface and set a 10 sec exposure time

And as i said, the pics looks better just because they are darker so you wont see all noise and details that would be there with the higher iso pic.

This is the effect it has in reality

Low iso, you see less details, noise and so on

This is what we really would want, more details but still sharp.

This is just an overdone example with the same pic but shows how i meant. By lowering the iso you get less on the pic.

well. let me explain this way. we tried our Pentax (xenon) digi cam and shot some flash pics outdoor and the result DID NOT became good.

just look at the pictures, they looks so much better. (and yes, it because of the flash. besides, it takes some serious work and testing by SE, to get this great quality with flash fired outdoor, (iso-settings, exposure, etc).

i have never (EVER) got this night/low light quality before with my cellphones.

lol, do you really think your led flash effects the buildings in the distance 200 meters away?

It has nothing to do WITH THE FLASH, it is the iso that changes

I dont reckon myself to know alot about photography but you seem to make an idiot of yourself with this thread plank.

And with your pentax, turn of the flash and set it to a loooooong exposure time and on a flat surface i think you see another result. This is what the i-mobile users do to get nice night shots i guess..

And yet again, some examples of different isos.

N82 iso 200

N82 iso 800

what serious work and testing by SE? half lowered ISO value isn't miracle
