> Best offers for contact X1 in UK
Bookmark topic
Hi
Due for an upgrade and looking at the current offers the X1 is very expensive, Carphone warehouse wanted £149 for the phone on a £35 per month 18 month tariff, to be honest they didnt really seem interested in selling me the phone ( or anything really)
anyone know of any better deals or recommeded websites,
Cheers in advance
Gav

Lol, it's neither popular nor cheap. It's not popular because noone likes selling it due to the return rate and reliability. Noone seems to want to own one because they don't particularly like the link between Sony Ericsson and Windows Mobile.
SE will keep the price high as it's meant to be a more exclusive, semi-luxury item, it won't be cheap for years.
Not to mention the fact that for the price, it sucks, and I always discourage customers from buying one, most likely why CPW didn't seem interested in selling you one.

That seems odd to me, clearly you are better placed than me to understand these things but I always thought Mobile phone dealers make next to nothing on the hardware side of handset sales on contract sales. They make money from the service provider so what difference does it make which handset they sell?
Incidentally the X1 is the has the 8th highest satisfaction level of all SE phones ever sold (179)

Lol, it makes a difference because handsets all cost different ammounts.
The X1 is an expensive phone for the networks to buy, therefore expensive to sell.
The W960i was the same sort of price for the first 6 months and it only dropped in price when we discontinued it (even though it was still sold elsewhere for a few months, it was just dropped because it wasn't selling at all).
The vast, vast majority of people don't need or want X1 style smart phones, they just don't need the features and don't want to understand it.
Believe me, after having sold them for close to 7 years, I've got a good idea what the public seem to want.

I had a call from Vodafone last December, who offered the X1 for free, on my £25 per month contract... plus I also got a free bluetooth headset..
Needless to say I jumped at the offer..
