This thread is a run off from the "Dont post your packages on friday 13th! it isnt lucky!" Read below I need your help on what to do...

The royal mail have admitted after 5 days (ment to be 15 working days) that its lost and i can submit my claim.

My problem is that i want to get £400 from the insurance but i only paid £320 for the phone over ebay. how would i explain that I CANNOT get another phone for that price and i want the £400. I know its cheeky but worth it? credit crunch and all?

I think if i think up some plan i could get this money because on the Sony ericsson store the price is £399.99 http://www.se-store.co.uk/ind[....]6C24245849FEBF&type=Sim%20Free

any ideas please share!

looking forward to your reply

I would think RM needs a proof of purchase before paying out.

You can try and tell them you lost it but that won't do your case good, I assume you bought it new from ebay. I give it little chance they will pay you 400 because that is the price on Sony Ericcsons website, they will pay whatever you paid for it (if you're lucky) and probably only with proof of purchase.

Do what i did.Print off the page showing the phone and price. Get 3 examples and send them along with your claim form as proof. The only problem is that if you specified the value of contents you will only get that amount.

I havent yet told them how much its worth i've filled out the general information and left value blank. Im thinking i could say i bought it off a friend for a cheap price and show them Play.com Se-store.com as examples of price. Do you know any other people who sell it for 400 and above? ooo just a thought would it help to get actual quotes off phone shops instead like o2, phones4u

it might help. the more supporting evidence the better. you did send it special delivery didn't you ? if you only sent it recorded delivery the maximum you'll receive is £38.

Lets hope RM doesn't find this thread. Personally I think you should just claim back what you lose and not try to make a profit out of it. But that's just me I guess.

Ooh thats bad i had a courier years ago about to deliver an expensive Nokia phone. Turns out someone stole it at the depot. I had to show them actual reciept my actual proof to claim not just something showing the price. Thats bad luck that.
