Today I am getting my Sony Ericsson K850i "swopped in" like vodacare says. Basically it is gonna be sent to SE to get replaced. Why? Many BROD's and plenty other problems, and I've taken it in for repair 3 times now!

So I want to know what will happend if the new one also gives problems? And does any of you have experience with gettting a k850i replaced? Like did the new one work?

Thanx for replies!!!

Sent mine in once and it realy doesnt help, all they will do if they replace it is either give you another branded K850 with that horrible r1ea firmware or give you another phone, maybe a C902? When i sent mine in they just reinstalled the firmware and replaced a few things in the phone, so i just decided to debrand it, and update to R1FA035 ,havent had manx problems since, although i had BROD yesterday and managed to fix it myself.

I had to reflash it, i found the FS, MAIN and Custom packs for Central Europe and flashed my K850 with them, and it was back up and running, didnt pay a cent either lol.

Oh ok cool, Yeah they told me that if the replcement doesn't work they will give me a upgrade on my current handset. I guess they can't really use the price as a guideline to which phone to give me so they will probably use the specs and class (cybershot) as a guide.

So I think you are right, they will probably give me the c902, although I hate that phone. The features are great and all but the tiny screen sucks!

Ye C902 is realy nice,a friend of mine recently got the James Bond Edition, its a stunning piece of tech, but in use i found it awful compared to the chunky yet compact design of my K850, and the C902s buttons are just saw thin, and awkward to use, but i guess it takes some getting used to, its a shame your K850 has given so many problems, its such a sweet phone once its stable.

Yeah I love the k850. But I will have to see what happends when I get the replacement back. According to some forums the newer production model (after december 2007) works much better. And hopefully the replacement will have r1fa035 firmware.

i also have a k850i and i sent it to the service center last march 9 for repair.

the problem is that the screen turns off every time you press a key on the keypad.

the technician said that it is a firmware/software problem.

i have updated its firmware via its upgrade software a few times already but to no avail.

i will follow it up this coming march 30.

the customer service told me that the duration of the repair will be from 3 to 4 weeks.

i hope the problem will be fixed.

Yeah. thats what their excuse always is, firmware. But I'm starting to think that it might be hardware related after all. But anyway, please remember to tell me what happend to your phone. I'm getting mine back also around the 27th.
