hi all

my c902 has not given me any problems since ive owned it...that is, until a few days ago!

now it seems that at any given random point it will not recognise that fact that my M2 card is sitting in the phone. therefore, i cannot display/play/retrieve any file of any type that is stored on the card (sandisk mobile ultra 8gb)...this failure happens several times a day!

the only way of telling that this has occurred is when i go to use the camera/video - i get notification that the file will be saved to the phone memory, or if i want to view any pictures/videos/files, etc.

however, the phone still thinks all the files stored on the card are accessible, but when you try to view photos via the media shortcut, they are white boxes. file manager will just say 'no files'. i can still view anything stored on the phone memory.

i have discovered that if i run SEUS up to the point where i do not update my firmware, the problem rights itself and the contents of the M2 card can be seen again, and everything (reading/writing) is normal.

i dont want to update my firmware, as i will lose important mms messages that cant be backed up (with mpe).

fyi, my firmware is 1204-1731 R3CA038 (the phone was purchased from carphone warehouse).

through SEUS, the new firmware would be c902 western-europe cdf 1208-6209...

i have tried the update via the phone menu, but im not sure if it would overwrite the data - no warning has been given, so im reluctant to go that route...

any suggestions as to whether this is a physical fault, or system driven?

any comments would be helpful...

Hi, have you tested your M2 card in another device/phone to discard a faulty memory?... just a thought...

I had a similar issue with a refurbished phone O2 supplied me after my first C902 couldn't be repaired for a different problem.

Everytime I attempted to access the card it said card could not be found or something similar. The card was fine and other working cards also couldn't be seen by the phone.

I attempted something just before returning the phone to the O2 store to get another replacement. This was to check if the pins were aligned properly to the memory card. I found that by forcing the memory card to the right it was recognised by the phone and I was able to access the data.

Even though I resolved the problem I didn't feel comfortable in keeping the phone if it already had a fault so I returned it.

Sometimes it can be as simple as formatting the memory card in the phone itself. I recently had a problem where on my c510 the video would not record on a new Ultra Sandisk M2 4 giga byte card. After formatting it was fine.
