Could this be a bug that i found on my C510? When i try to zoom on 3MP, 2MP and 1MP i get this message on the screen "Zoom not possible at this resolution. Please select a smaller picture size" But on VGA and on Video mode, the digital zoom works fine.
Could be something to do with the firmware, sensor or lens that preventing the digital zoom to work on these modes?
Sofware info:

EROM: 1200-4341

I have this phone on Orange, and wondering of anyone else is experiencing the same problem with their C510 on other networks?

So whats the point of having the 3.2X digital zoom, function if it does not work on 3-1MP and only VGA and Video mode? My K810 16x digital zoom worked fine on all of the modes.
I will be contacting Sony Ericsson about this matter as it misleads the point of the 3.2x digital zoom function on the C510.
Edit: I found this thread while browsing the forum which may explain why the zoom function does not work in some camera modes:

Dear Yvonne,
Thank you for your query regarding the Sony Ericsson C510.
We are sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your Sony Ericsson C510.
From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you update the Software on your Sony Ericsson handset. This can be done free of charge using our Sony Ericsson Update Service tool. To carry out the update you will need internet access and a USB cable.
It may be the case that user data is lost during this upgrade. We therefore recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, Memory Stick, or PC before upgrading.
Please follow the steps below to download and install the update service software:
1. Go to
www.sonyericsson.com/support
2. Select UK
3. Select your model of handset
4. Click on Sony Ericsson Update Service
5. Click the link, and then click Run or Save.
6. Let the Sony Ericsson Update Service install.
Once you have installed the Sony Ericsson Update Service you will need to launch it. Once it opens simply follow the instructions that you will see on screen. The update should then begin.
In the event that this does not resolve your issue, we recommend that you send your handset to our service location to be examined by our authorised service engineers. The turnaround time for this process is currently 5-7 working days, from when the repair centre receives the handset. We offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please complete the attached repair form which includes the address to send your handset to. Place your handset in a Jiffy bag with a copy of your proof of purchase and send it via your Post Office obtaining a Proof of Postage receipt.

Ok, i got a few points to rant about on this response i got from Sony Ericsson which looks like an automatic reply.
1. I don't understand why i would need to update through the PC as an update can be done directly from my phone over their "Air Service". No connection to a computer is needed! Plus the C510 would have been released not that long ago (last month on Orange UK), so wouldn't they have the most recent and updated software/firmware on the handset?
2. I don't have a USB cable (DSS-25 for P900/P910) for my C510 anyway, only the DCU-65 that was supplied with the phone.
3. I am very weary about performing manual updates regarding software/firmware on my mobile (and to be honest i never have done so even on my pass Sony Ericssons and had no other problems with my other Sony Ericssons!). I would prefer it to be done by a professional and authorised Sony Ericsson Engineer who knows what they are doing rather me trying to attempt it and may end up messing up or even "bricking" the phone!
4. I have checked for new updates when i first got the handset on my using "Air Service" and get the message that "Your phone already has the lastest software". I checked again but this time i got an error message saying "Cannot download the update". Sony Ericsson is not offering a good service for those customers whom may have an issue with thier handsets.
5. Rant over LoL!

Ha yeah, that is the same response I always get from their email SE have terrible support. The only thing I can suggest it just don' touch the zoom in the first place. Digital zoom is so pointless because all it does is increase the pixels so you loose lots of detail. It would probably be better zooming on when the photo is on the computer using some programme. But if I were you I'd just forget about the zoom.
If you really want it though, take a normal picture, then view it in the gallery zoom in and click 'save' this will save the image on the screen at that time.

@ Cormac1234: Ok, but that would just define the point in having a 3.2x digital zoom feature on the C510 due to working for the 3-1MP mode and only on the VGA mode that a very basic mobile phone camera would have.
I also know zooming would result in "pixalation" of photos, which happens on ever type of camera.
May be in time they will fix this "flaw" in the software via an update due to other users contacting the with the same issue.
To be honest i am a bit dissapointed with the C510 and the Sony Ericsson Service which could be better.

Maybe it's just a glich wait for a new FW to come out, but it really doesn't matter, just don't use the zoom, simple.
