For the Nth time, I'm thinking of getting the Nokia E71. It does seem like a very solid phone from what I've read so far. However, I do have a few concerns.

I'm currently using a T700 with MyPhoneExplorer. It's great cos I get to backup my PIM in formats that are generally compatible with most software. With the E71 however, I don't think I have such an option. I need my contacts, calendar, tasks, notes and SMSes to be viewable on my computer without any overly complicated process. I'd be very grateful if anyone could offer me a solution or share with me how they usually do it. I'd rather not have to use Outlook or any internet-based backup solutions if I could help it.

Another concern is the audio and camera quality on the E71. I know the camera on the C510 is pretty good and I'm wondering if the E71's is anywhere as good. The geo-tagging feature on my T700 has been hassle-free and rather useful too.

Next, I use my T700 as my music player and it sounds great with my HPM-77 and W902 acoustics. I know the E71 isn't a music phone, but is the audio quality acceptable?

Lastly, I know I'll miss the TrackID feature, is there any similar Symbian offering for the E71?

Thanks for any help! I really wanna give the E71 a shot but it seems I may be better off getting the C510.

hi deluded, well i guess you'll have to go the outlook route and leave trackID behind as part of the compromise if you really want the E71. If you can't do without MyPhoneExplorer and other SE-exclusive goodies, won't you consider the G900, P1i or W960? There are still lots of apps out there that make them more satisfying than a SE feature phone

@chili, you do have a good point, I really do not wish to be stuck with SE out of necessity.

Anyway, I'm curious, can the E71 be synced with Outlook over bluetooth? I'm used to doing that with my SE and MyPhoneExplorer.

Also, I don't think SMSes will get backed up this way, do they? I've read about this third-party software called Noki that allows one to explore the contents of the Nokia backup files, has anyone used it? How good is this software? Thanks!

For syncing, the E71 can be synced with Outlook viaBluetooth using the sync feature of the PC suite.

Thanks for the information, at least I know I won't have to use the data cable all the time. But I'd still prefer not to have to use Outlook if I can help it. Having said that, I might still end up getting the E71 anyway, cos I know I like it, despite all the hassle of moving over from SE.
