My w890 tells me to insert sim card even when it is inserted in my phone properly, sometimes the phone will turn off and then start up again and displays the message insert sim, this happened once before but my phone wouldnt start up again so i sent my phone back to vodafone which took a month and a half to return, which is why i dont want to send it off because it does work at times, just breaks down a lot
if any has any idea on how to fix it FAST ?
thanks

It may be that the contact springs in the SIM card socked don't press hard enough against the contact surfaces on the SIM card. Remove the SIM card, and use a needle or something similar and carefully bend the metal connector springs outwards a bit in the direction to where the SIM card should be. Be careful not to break them by bending them too much. Then re-insert the SIM card and start the phone.

When I experieced this INSERT SIM problem back then . . all I did is SCRATCH the BACK (metal plating) of the SIM CARD against my jeans or something of COTTON-surface apparel, then the problem was solved . . . I'm not sure though in this case coz it looks like that the fone has a problem too
Good Luck !

I feel for you man. I have a K850i and it does exactly the same. It's been weeks now and I'm now waiting to collect it for the 4th time from repair. I also took it to vodacare (Vodafone) twice and they didn't properly fix it.
I then took it to a 3rd party Sony Ericsson approved technician and after waiting 45mins he told me that he replaced everything he could (sim-card holder, screen, battery, antenna etc. ) and the problem is still there. After taking it apart again he finally found the problem.
THE PROBLEM: There is a small component (resistor) loose on the main board that runs in the circuit connecting the sim card holder to the main board. So when it looses contact it is as if you took out the sim card.
THE SOLUTION: It has to be sent in for a LEVEL 4 repair (this means that the main board or has to be repaired or has to get replaced)
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Go to any Sony Ericsson Service Centre (NOT Vodafone) and tell them exactly what I told you and they will probably replace the main board.

well i sent it off for repair today in vodafone hoping that they would do a better job,
this time they took it in and sent it to a 'senior technician' who is going to deal with it now
they lent me a courtesy phone today and now i took the charger out of the box i realise it doesnt even work, going back tomorrow !
but thanks for answers
