I'm not sure if this is posted yet because I still see people complain over the random shutdowns coming from the K850.

It took me several hours to experiment and play with the phone. Well... to fix this random shutdown.

First, open the battery cover. You will notice a clip thing to keep the battery in place. It should be orange color or so. The main reason why the phone shuts down is because the battery is loose, so when you move around, the battery will move up and down, causing it to shut down. Place something thick under the clip (a piece of paper folded several times to make it thick, a piece of cotton, etc.). Place that "material" under the clip to ensure that the battery won't move up and down. After that, test if the battery is intact and secured. Close the battery cover. turn on the phone!

to confirm this.. i dropped my phone from about 4 feet high onto the "CARPET" floor with SILICON case and the phone is still on.

Anyways this is how i fixed my K850 random shutdown problem.

Hopefully, for the k850 owners out there, this solution will work for you too

Phone restarts is cauzed by firmware, not hardware. I've tried this long time ago and the phone is keeping restarting.

+1, it's firmware, but in some rare case the battery may be loose though (very unlikely).

My o2 branded K850i has been restarting every morning when loading up after a night switched off. This week I switched off the start up screen and had not 1 reboot since.

I was damn scared as to why this often happens with my handset. I just removed the clip to see if the battery held in its place. so happens that a little movement makes the battery move and bang! the phone gets switched off. finally!
thanks for the seemingly-stupid-but-important tip
