What do you think of my photos, I'm pretty shocked?! I've gone over the settings carefully and checked with Sony and the shop. In these I've used portrait as Auto is worse. These two were taken early evening in low light.

Then after a few more attempts I get a "better" photo

Daytime photos seem ok

I've taken loads of photos and the low light ones I get maybe 1 in 6 turn out, not brilliant, but at least not totally black! Very strange. I'm being careful to take the photo when both lights are green too.

I ordered my C510 online from Carphone warehouse and I've explained the problem. They've said I can swap it in store. Have I just got a dud one or is this normal? I hope not!

There's nothing wrong with your phone. C510 can take good photo in strong light, but crap in low light.

you can check C510 photo thread

In lowlight this phone not so great though can be ok if you tweak things in settings and have steady hands. On the other hand outside this phone can be great and viewfinder is dead smooth. Even view finder indoors for video is smooth. I have one of these and find it great. Its not the most amazing picture quality but it is a budget phone with decent features for the price. Dont expect too much from 3.2 mega pixels with LED flash. The flash is only good for close up shots of faces.

@Bonovox
It's a dual LED flash, right?

@gtr83
Yes, it's a dual LED flash. But, i found it's not as bright as LED assistlight on my K850 and LED flash on my G900.

@bonovox
agree with you, the flash is only for close up faces and not for macro.

Hi thanks for the replies. I have tried various settings and have held the phone very steady, but it seems odd to me that the same picture can be ok one minute but the next totally black.

I agree, nothing wrong with the outdoor photos and I wasn't expecting a lot from a 3.2 although comapring it to another phone with 3.2 it isn't as good. I love SE phones better than other brands though.

I exchanged my phone today for another and so far *touches wood* I haven't had black pictures, ok, they are bad in low light, but at least not bad and then black! So if anyone does experience the same as me with a lot of totally black photos then they will know it is not right.

Hi sorry for the delay in replying just noticed these messages. These are photos taken at the same time of day in the same lighting..

These are with the new phone and the ones before above were with the first one. The first phone I had black photos one minute and the next just poor ones, now no black photos just..umm.. not good ones! This is only in low light, normal light is fine.
