Hi all,

I know some of you are probably wondering why on earth someone would have to choose between a Smartphone and a Walkman Phone but I am actually in this prediciment at the moment so just hear me out for a few mins and hopefully help me decide what to do.

I have been a P1i User for a while and have been using my 3UK sim in there no problems...even though this phone is not one that 3 sell. I changed my job recently and now have no need to use the funtions on the phone that I did before, like email/Tasks/Qwerty etc.

I have recently been offered by 3UK the Sony Erricson W595 as an upgrade.

I have looked at the spec of the phone and noticed that the w595 is a HSDPA device which should make data transfer loads faster on 3UK. Slide looks ok, and the Walkman v3 looks quite nice. I use my P1i as my main mp3 player.

Now on merit alone, do you think it is worth me changing over to the w595 and selling my p1i or just selling the w595 when I get it? I really dont have any time to get to a store and take a look at the phone before hand and if I choose to sell the w595 I would like to sell it as unopened.

what do you people think? people that have used both phones would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Man
You should clear this with yourself:
What do you prefer: A new phone, nice looking, but bad camera (no autofocus). New emotions - having a brand new piece of hardware in your hand, it is always a pleasure.
Or: the old friend, probably some damage, scratches. But reliable and capable much more than walkman.

Well I have the W595 you would think it's not so good at first but it somehow grows on you! Any questions just ask, but if you can go and have a try in a shop, in fact, go to Phones4U they will let you have a go on one just sound intrested!

Hi there... I have a P1 and my cousin has a W595... I have used both and though both are good on their own, the W595 is a bit more cool with Flash animations, auto-rotate, etc. has Louder Stereo speakers and compact size.

But if I were you, I wouldn't switch to W595 from my P1... P1's better build quality, bigger display plus it's a touchscreen and auto-focus camera with flash are enough reasons for me to stick to P1...

Hope this helps...

For me there's no contest, P1 all the way. This is a phone I intend to use for a long time. Reasons have been forwarded above so I won't repeat them.

Don't! The p1i is good. I don't have it but I have tried it and it's a fantastic phone. If you like the Walkman 3.0 you can have it on your p1i. Try searching it on Google.

If you don't need the WLAN, can live without a touchscreen, don't do video calls and are ok with an ok camera go for the W595. A simpler phone is sometimes a lot of fun to use because of its simplicity. You just whip it out and start pushing buttons. I have the P1i and a K810i and I love both for those reasons.

Depends if you need all the features the P1 has that the W595 doesn't, and if you want a new phone. You could always try popping into 3 and having a play with a W595, that might help.
