Reuters article
HELSINKI (Reuters) - Sony Ericsson will take some time developing a phone using Google's Android operating system, its chief executive said on Friday, but declined to say when such a handset would be available.
"It does require a lot of evaluation, as well as a lot of testing, a lot of acceptance from a consumer viewpoint, and there is still some time to go," Chief Executive Hideki Komiyama told Reuters in an interview.
"Looking ahead I think that we see this as one of the important operating systems, there is no doubt," he said.

HTC took no time making the G1 and it was "accepted and bug free(sort of)". i wonder why it takes a lot of time for testing and evaluation. it took no time to jump to S60 5th edition.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't HTC make lots of WM phones while SE make java-based and symbian UIQ based phones? Wouldn't that give HTC an advantage when it comes to building a Google phone? Didn't SE get help from HTC to make a WM device?
Maybe the transition to a new platform is hard to make when you're losing money and shedding staff?

Samsung will release its first Android phone this June and two more phones are coming.
Why SE always take so many times to release any phones specially for smartphone? 1 year 1 high-end device...
