Can anyone shed any light on this. I seen this website fonebank.com and i am not sure how reliable or legit they are. They buy phones i wonder if anyone on here either knows or has used them? Thanks.

Hi Mate, not too sure about fonebank, although I have used Envirofone before and everything went smoothly with them. Alternatively, I'm sure you've seen those Mazzuma (not sure on the spelling) mobile adverts that have been doing the rounds recently on the TV, I'm under the impression that they too are reliable.
I would recommend you check out a few of these phone recycling sites, get an idea for prices and what not, make sure you read the fine print some of them may offer slightly different to the quoted amounts depending on how they grade the phones.
And I would also make sure to check out cex (computer exchange, similar to cash converters...cex.co.uk I think) they usually pay quite well for a phone, much better than these recycling sites anyways, and if i am not mistaken (though never used them) you can actually go and trade in person with the store and get your money in your hand asap, as opposed to waiting a couple of weeks.
Hope that helps.

Cheers for that. I did read that when they send you the cheque for the phone its very quick few days. Anyway yes i will check these sites. I know you can trade in but ya dont get as much and also CEX dont offer much either. But i will check out these sites. Thanx

Glad I could help, best bet is to search around a bit.
Unfortunately as with all these second hand / recycle situations you are not going to get a good deal. As much as it pains me to say, while they might be reliable even if your phone is 1 day old, the minute you go to them you are knocking a huge amount off the price you could get at ebay...or even the forums here.
I did a quick search myself, for my old Nokia 3510 the recycle sites are offering me pennies, whereas cex offers a price of £15.
I might be able to scrape that on ebay, the forums I don't think I have a chance, so in that case I think cex would be the best bet.
Some advice, if the phone is relatively new stick to ebay / forums, if you have a slightly older device try cex, and only go to the recycling websites as a last resort because I have found they offer the lowest prices.
Good luck!
