I suppose it's probable that there will be an X2 at some point, though what OS it will run is anyone's guess. We know it won't be made by HTC whatever happens, which could potentially mean a move back away from Windows Mobile (the "Xperia" brand was always supposed to be OS neutral).
Personally I wouldn't be surprised if "Xperia" and the X series quietly dies with the X1. It wasn't a success, the delivery of the "user eXperience" concept behind Xperia ended up being quite confused and lacking, and now we have a whole new "entertainment unlimited" brand behind the Idou there seems to be a bit of a clash there anyway.

@Boinng
I don't know about it being a clash. I mean, if they keep the X2 as a windows device then it stays on a different level to the SF Idou. Having said that however, what's going on at SE is pure confusion. I guess only time will tell if they can pull this 3 Os at a time strategy. From where I stand I see only SF making it through and maybe, just maybe, one of the other 2.

If "Xperia" = Windows Mobile and "Entertainment Unlimited" = S60 then it all makes sense, it's just that they were quite vocal at the launch of the Xperia brand (more than a year ago now) that is was supposed to be OS neutral, not tied to WM, and that we should expect other non-WM devices to follow under the same brand later.
Then again, it's quite possible that the next Xperia phone planned at the time was the UIQ-driven P5, which of course died a death for its own reasons. Maybe they've rationalised things since then and are indeed keeping Xperia for the (predominately american) WM market.

Yes, I do remember them saying the 'Xperia' brand was not tied to one Os but what I'm getting at is that (and as you pointed) they would be foolish to bring out two of the same device, ie, Idou and X2 running the same Os.

So we'll still need to wait and see will the strategy prove to be a Holy Trinity or rather a Cerberus for
.
