I've seen a only a few T68i's and few motorola 720's around. Occasionally, I'll also see one of the color Sprint phones, typically the Samsung N400.

I believe the reason we haven't seen more color screens is because many people just bought new monochome phones this last year, especially the motorola v series and nokia bricks. Also, they have year-long CDMA (not GSM) contracts, and they don't see the need to upgrade to GSM mid-contract.

Once last-year's contracts begin to expire, I feel more people will start getting color phones.

Yea, sprint phones... those damn fools

Just the other day, I was in a club in Detroit, and I was trying to take a few pictures of my friends dancing with my Panasonic GD87, when one after the other, these two guys approached me, (i'm a guy myself) and showed me their Sprint phones, who apparently had a few added features. I politely listened to their praises, then asked them where did their phone work. They said the US of course. I then proceded to note how my phone works all over the world.

Ok I realize this has no point Sprint sucks... we all know this...

But to answer to your question, yes I've seen a few color screens around some surrounded by a big low self esteem cloud

the only ones i've seen ppl use are a few t68/i,
some sanyo and samsung clamshell/flip phones.
i've seen a lot of others in stores, but not with ppl using them.
so in other words, i rarely see them.

That's funny! Yes, I know about the sprint-inspired-low-self-esteem cloud of which you speak.

I had the Samsung A-500 for two weeks (just before the trail period ran out). The design of the phone was pretty nice, and the screen was killer. But beyond that, the phone was seriously flawed. The standard battery had NO life, the handset would become hot after 5 min., and the SMS interface was laughable. And, sprint's mid-range voice and data plan was like $20 more than a comparable plan with at&t. To this day, I continute to thank myself for being smart and switching to the T68i with at&t (although now I'm staring to wish I went with T-Mobile).

I know exactly about that damn low self esteem cloud too
but the ppl that hv it here in montreal r moto users.. they r like "yeah, well I didnt pay so much for my phone and I can call as easily as u can!"
I hate it when ppl say that..
it's like "ur a technological idiot.. go rot in some motocave"

The GD87, huh? How do you like it? Is it sweet? That has a camera attachment, not built-in, right? Where did you get it for how much? What did you have before, T68? And who is your service provider? How does the wap browser look?

I love it.... I've been an Ericsson fan since forever, but this one deffinitively made me give up my only true love... the T68 which is currently under the tender care of my best friend...
The screen is simply awesome, 64.000 colors, the camera is built in and it takes pictures even in low light with the twilight mode on, the pic quality is good, it can store up to 1000 pics if you have no additional ringtones. I drove to Detroit and back this past week and all along the way I was taking pictures of anything cool I was seeing. The weather was great and the scenery on my screen looked amasing. The wap browser is quite good, and since the screen is of a decent size, the pages look very good. I'm with T-Mobile, as a matter of fact just today I resigned for another 1 year contract with them.
I paid nothing for the phone My stepdad gave it to me, christmas present... i'm like sure thing i'll take it. He actually had gotten it for some 700 dollars. I know that's pretty steep, but he lives in Albania, and the cell phone prices there are rediculous...
There a couple of things I miss... from my old T28 the active flip, from my T68 the battery life and battery status ( u know, talk time and standby time) and there's something I don't miss from my loved T68, the reception. It is DEFFINITIVELY better on the GD87... sad but true...

Overall though it is an excellent phone. I like the camera, it's got an alarm, calendar, appointment or birthday reminder, and plenty of other little things to occupy your mind. It has only one game, wallbreaker, and there's the possibility to add another game via WAP download, but no US operator has added downloadable ExEn games yet... hope they do it soon...

Apparently ATT is testing this phone for use in their network. I wonder how much they'll sell it for... I say if you want to get one, look online, you can get it unlocked and with no horrible ATT logo
