how come?
i live in the UAE and just got a P800 (love it!).
my gprs connection is working fine..i can surf the net, d/l stuff, use yahoo messenger and mail etc etc..but...
when i tried to setup my yahoo mail a/c as a pop3 mail account i could never get connected to the yahoo mail server.
i gave up on that and setup my normal pop3 mail account, the one given by my isp (etisalat). the settings were simple enough and i checked back with them to ask if there was anything else i needed to know except for the account name/password/ incoming and outgoing mail server addresses and they said that this was just fine...
BUT
i still can't send or receive mail, even on this account... the conection keeps getting timed out while trying to connect to the mail server and the GPRS information shows 0 Kb downloaded.

why is this happening?
would love to have a clue.

n also would love to know if anyone's been able to setup yahoo (or any other webbased email account) as a POP3 mail account on the phone...n if so..how good is it n how did u set it up.

thank u all.

ps: my first post here but looks like i'll have to keep coming back here if i'm gonna learn any new tricks to play on my little toy.

well...i did manage it!
it seems that tp surf the net the gprs account was setup as wap over gprs, but to send and receive pop3 mails, u have to setup another gprs a/c for gprs on mnet.
once that was done i even managed to setup my yahoo mail a/c as a pop3 mail a/c!
i read somewhere that the uk server still allows pop3 access for free and as i've got a @yahoo.co.uk id, i guess that must be the reason.
btw, if anyone else is setting up yahoo as a pop3 mail a/c, do remember not use the mail and smtp servers' names but their numerical ip addresses. the ones i used were:
216.136.173.10
216.136.173.12.

u can check that by pinging the server.

hope it works for u!

cheers..n enjoy your P800's..

Could you please give me some more information on how you set up the extra GPRS account. I am having the same problem as you setting up my email with the p800.

thanks

Hello Guys.

I've followed the steps to be able to download my yahoo e-mails on my t68i. However when it says finding server it just stays there and seems not to locate it. I rang my service provider and they said that since mine is a pay as you go account, I cannot download my mails directly to my phone. Do you reckon that this is possible?

to setup another gprs a/c u go to control panel-internet accounts-connections and click on new. enter your new settings, depending on your service provider. in the UAE, to access gprs over wap, u have to set one connection up as ewap, for mail and mms u access gprs over mnet so u have to setup another connection for that. most service providers send u auto-config messages to setup your phone or they can fax u the settings according to your model.
