if you enter file manager and choose disk z: (rom drive) /system/ you will find that, just as style-xp reveals, it shows all the files for the symbian 7 and uiq graphical and sound interface, and the files for all the applications. definetly EVERYTHING:
-data/ all mp4 files are the animations for start up, shut down, reset and such screens. they cannot be seen with video player due to too big height.
-files with extensions like ini or esk and others in every folder are configurations and they can be viewed with internal viewer by clicking on them.
-data/pictograms/core/ here are ALL the graphics you can see all over the p800 interface. they are mostly jpgs and gifs and can be viewed
-data/ems/ many short sounds (which by the way i didn't find the way to access them from the compose sms/mms menu since i think "ems" stands for what we know as ems.
-i think mbm file extension also stands for sounds.
-you rummage in and see what you can find
now the question is: can this files be modified in any way even if the drive is rom (read only memory)?

IMHo you cannot edit files, but: commonly there is link to files from .ini files in disk c: and you can edit this ini files and point them to new files in c: drive to change startup animation ....

Maybe you cannot access the se video because you are nor supposed too? not because the p800 can't play it?(I mean. It plays it during startup doesn't it?)

no, it simply doesn't play because it doesn't fit the audio player window size (something like 200x140px).

As a Psion pda user for many years using Symbian series 5 OS.
The ability to view the Z: (ROM) memory has always been possible so I would imagine the Series 7 OS is similar on the P800.
Because it is ROM you can't modify anything but you should be able to copy to your C: drive.
