I just downloaded the UIQ SDK.. Havent's got around to reading much of the documentation but I ran the emulator and it looks very promising.. gave me a very good idea of what to expect when I can afford to buy my P800

Anyway I just wanted to know if any of you have already used the SDK and have any tips or guidelines? I don't have [the recommended] Metroworks CodeWarrior but I assume Visual studio should run just fine since I used it for Symbian 6. The SE site says you need CodeWarrior to run the emulator but mine is running fine and I even installed some applications.

Would love to get in touch with some other developers out there..

I'm no developer. But I have an idea for a program.
Make a program which keeps count of gprs traffic on a monthly, daily, whatever basis. That way I can plan my spendings more accurately.
Since the second MB is cheaper then the first and so on.
Just a suggestion.

I just though of a great program.
There are lots of sms services out there right.
Like:
send
whois to 2000 and get his/hers phonenumber and that sort of thing.

What is you made a program which stores these things.
So that all you had to type in the above instance for example would be the name.
And with the option to store many off these services.
I could ease stuff considerably.
In the above instance for example you would store something like Function:whois %1
number : 2000
and the user would type in the variable %1

Like stated before I'm no programmer(tryed it a little but i turns out I'm not smart enough)
Heck. I even spelled tried wrong...
So I can't make it myself.. but you programmers could make it if you want to and if it turns out a succes you can take all the credit for it

Wow already 50 views and application suggestions.. but I guess nobody knows if you can use Visual Studio.. this is what I got so far when trying to build:

ERROR: Unable to identify a valid CodeWarrior for Symbian OS installation

And it's annoying.. I'll try to hack around it and replace the Symbian headers in VC++ but I doubt it will work.. I'm off to downloading Sun One Studio, even though Java isn't my strong point.. JAYV let me know what happens you you..

I'll post more ideas here when they come to me.
Hope you get it working.
My greatest achievement ever within the world of programming was when I made a playable snake game in qbasic(it was about as advanced as the snake on earlier nokias and quite playable)

Some Application ideas: Profile-application (preset setting changer), Wallpaper/background-changer, Doom/quake2, themes(if possible), a better mp3 player, webcam application, button settings (a way to change the function of the two buttons, especially the internet button), Atari/Comodore+++ Emulator, picture-editor, dictionary, midi-editor, landscape-keyboard(a text editor with lots of space for the keyboard), T9 or other predictive text input and tamagotchi...

hehe.. tamagotchi
Very good.

Quake 2 may be pushing it though... hehe
But doom or perhaps even (with ingenious programming) quake 1
At least wolf3d

A port of UAE would be very nice. All those nice Amiga-games on a P800 would be like a dream to come true.
