Hard to narrow it down but 5 of my faves are:

GM Mobile - And I'm not even that big a fan of Yank Tanks but that 09 Camaro and the Volt are to die for! I've never seen a car company give the public this much access to... well... everything - I guess when one goes to the US Govt cap in hand one has to become REALLY transparent.
iChalky - needs to be seen to be understood really. Great fun and keeps my kids amused too.
MultiCam Auckland - quick access to traffic cameras to keep an eye on Auckland's notoriously bad traffic.
Best Friend Caller - a speed dial app to easily call my wife.
National Bank iBank - a simply stunning internet banking app for National Bank customers. Check balances, transfer between accounts, setup AP's, make one off payments and pay my phone bill/power bill etc. Like having an ATM in my phone. If I ditch the iPhone I'll miss this app the most.

Mine have to be a mixture of jailbroken & App Store apps. It's pretty hard to pick a top 5!

1. WinterBoard
2. SBSettings (fast toggle switcher)
3. Tweetie
4. Wunder Radio
5. Byline (RSS Reader)

Also a notable mention for StatusNotifier which gives notifications for mail/rss/sms/calls/calendar. It's implementation with the LockInfo extension (data on Lockscreen) is awesome

like ryan mine are a mixture of jailbroken apps and official apps....

1. Qtwitter - update facebook and twitter status in one app whilst in any app!, no need to exit app just swipe down from the top to acess it.

2. Snatch - Multitouch trackpad for windows or mac and quick launch keys too!

3. Peggle - Its like crack its soooooo addictive.

3. Winterboard - why cant apple just buy this app and integrate it fully with OS.3

4. SBSettings - makes it quicker to ativate wifi.

5. Car Jack - Its GTA for the iPhone made by original coders of GTA1!!!

Got loads more on ma phone but they are the 5 most used for me!

So many to choose from... I think my top five would have to be:

iMExchange - fills in the missing MS Exchange link with the ability to sync Tasks and Notes with your corporate server and set your out-of-office message while out of the office - brilliant.

Spreadsheet - as the name implies, it's a spreadsheet, and the oldest of the various spreadsheet apps available in the appstore. Possibly Quickoffice have bettered it, but thanks to regular updates, for the £3.49 I paid for a really basic XML-only worksheet app some months ago, I now have a fully-featured, native XLS workbook supporting app which works really nicely, so I can't complain.

National Rail - honourable mention to the freebie "MyRail" that did the same thing until NatRail squashed it, but this is still a great if more expensive app.

Concise English Dictionary - a comprehensive dictionary with a nice interface for just 59p - who doesn't want that?

Memiary - the really, really easy way to keep a "proper" diary.

I would have mentioned Flight Control but that's been done to death already, and anyway I can't get beyond 66!
