I thought this may be of interest to a few people here. Sony Ericsson's codenames are now becoming so well known that companies are picking them up and using them in their advertising. I thought these names were supposed to be secret!

One of New Zealand's largest mobile phone carriers is launching their new network in the next couple of days. This is what i spotted in one of their stores at a mall:

Has anybody else spotted codenames being used in public?

these names arent secrets!!!!
its just what they call their projects....
like microsoft called their OS after skiing hills!!!!
Longhorn, Whistler, Blackcomb...
but their real names are Vista, XP and Windows7
so, its just that these names are like petnames the developers havefor the phones....
and the company while releasing has their name fixed..
like W-serie 9xx
or C-serie 5xx
etc etc

but the names have created a buizz, as these names are kool...
so public has been getting to know and remember them quite well
and like moto had a four word for every phone... even their model number was different. and everyone used to call that moto by the 4letter name.... like razr, rizr, rokr, pebl, etc

so maybe SE wants to do the same.
instead of finding a different name for every phone
they are also publisising the developer name.........

pretty kool move i think...
but the names dont match the phones much...

whatta think?

How i miss Sakura
They should just name these phones like that IMO, drop the W9. . .or Nxx, or BB8xxx etc. . . That can get confusing. HTC have some realy nice ones like TouchHD has a hardcore one,i think its called Blackstone, the P3300 is known as Artemis, also Vogue and Nike for TouchDual

Sakura was a good name - better than Kate.

These names aren't publicised widely as they are initially for internal use and we had to push to find out what they were a few years ago.
