All of my phones seem to be dying on me.
So I'm on the out for a new one... and I've had my eye on the C905 for ages now but have been a bit wary of the problems people have been having. The problems aside, however, is it the best camera-phone on the market or is there better?

Thanks.

Atm the C905 and innovo8 take the best shots, C905 beats the Innovo hands down for photos which require flash but Innovo has better outdoor snaps & far better video recording capabilities. However the N86 is coming in a month and is likley to feature just as good or even better camera.

Or if you can wait (5months) and can afford spending £500 get the idou which features a 12mp camera and VGA video recording

The new C905s are pretty good and dont report any problems as such. You can get those.
With the N86 you miss the Xenon flash.

about your question if c905 is best. I reckon c905 is maybe on second place among all 8m.p phones, if we just talk photo quality.....i guess its good enough.

"best/easiest" point & shoot camera have C902 and second place k800/k810. (tried them all so that's my conclusion).

so go for a c905 or a c902 or a k800/k810

The minor differences in cam quality don't really mean that much. You have to look at the design, cam function etc as well.

Whatever you do, do not go for the C902, the screen is tiny, the touch buttons are exceptionally annoying because you always by accident press one of them and change a setting, the photo flash is horrendous, its not really a photo flash more of a white light. Also, all photos on the phone look blurry for 5seconds and look pretty poor on screen unless you zoom in slightly then the quality of the photo increases. Keyboard is crap, worst i have ever owned little if any feedback when you press the button. And the space between the camera cover fills with dust and dirt.

don't bank on the idou having the best camera just because it has a 12 megapixel camera. That would be plain stupid. As for the c905..it isnt the best on the market.

I have one, and it may not be the best in the market or whatever, but I enjoyed it so I would recommend it to you, if you can get a problem-free unit.

well... if you talk pure photography, i mean, from all the awd expert point of views[!!!] c905 comes third, soundly beaten by omnia and the LG...
however, for us, mass-commoners, the difference just cannot be seen by the naked eye! [unless someone wears an armani eyegear!]
so, c905 would suffice you..

personally, if thats the price range, amongst the three, omnia LG and c905...
i;d say pick the one whose interface you like the most...
LG i dont think you'd choose...
omnia and c905 have pretty much got similar functions..
if its an SE you want... go for the c905
its a complete phone, for music and photos
its also got WiFi...

hovewer you might want to check out your price range....
give a price range..
personally i think i wont pay to own the c905 cause its too expensive for me, and i wont be using all its functions..

so tell your use of the phone, like what you want in the phone
and tell a price range
also mention whether you'd consider a nokia samsung, or just SE you'r after??? [personally, again, i would not look at an nokia if it were an s40, but for s60, oh boy!]

so thats how you should decide your next phone...
so tell us these details, and i am sure, you'll get more decisive answers..
cheers!
