I've been waiting MONTHS for this thing to come out, and it surprisingly gets a subtle release without any advertising.
Even when I bought it, only one of the sales associates actually knew what I was talking about.

Anyways, this phone is awesome =D.
But I have one question; I see wotanserver doesn't have any firmwares for the c905a yet, and this rogers crap is really annoying.
Does anyone know the usual time-frame for an efficient de-branding method to be released?

sorry mate, but looks like there's only one firmware thats out for now, the one you are using...
a month more should see a firmware update is unlikely...
my guess is 4months

so no de-branding you till then...
or you can see if you get a generic firmware...

Aw really?

Hmm I have a second question then. Any good applications you would recommend as a "must-have" for my phone?
I already have google maps and gmail (yeah.. rogers even removed google maps from the phone).
I also have Opera Mini. I used to have a k790a (amazing phone), and I am AMAZED at how much faster 3G over EDGE is.
And using the wap portal for everything with unlimited on-device browsing=sex.

Hey, what's the Rogers software and firmware like? Did they butcher it?

I'm just curious because a while ago I thought i should wait for Rogers to release the c905, but I gave into my temptations and bought it. I love this phone... And I thought the k850 was good, haha! So I'm just using my Rogers sim card on my unlocked c905.

Man, I got the k850 from Rogers and there was Rogers propaganda all over, and it only came with two themes, not including the Laser Precision flash theme. It really turned me off, so I ended up unlocking it, and it ended up being faster and better looking, IMO.

Well they made all the icons red (bleh) except for one theme.
Also, rogers mall takes the place of sony's PlayNow. Also has roger's Vision and uRmusic programs on it.
One thing I hate though is they removed google maps, and the version that you can download doesn't work with the internal GPS (just triangulation from cellphone towers). This was a really big disappointment to me.

So its not too too bad, but still annoying.

Can you use your songs as ringtones on the C905? I've had a bad experience with my bell branded samsung which was "butchered" to death making me pay for everything ie: games, ringtones, apps. I was thinking of picking up this phone this week.

I bought my C905a from Rogers about 2wks ago, and just debranded it yesterday.

I wrote a little tutorial here,

Enjoy the debranded phone!
