I'm desparate.

I've got the t68i with the M25 from T-Mobile. I just want to email a picture. Everytime I try I get some nebulous message "Wrong Mailbox or Password".

T-Mobile tier2 person said everything seemed to be set up correctly. I can access my WAP services fine. I just can't email.

Questions:
1. Is the e-mail coming from my phone going through my POP account or is it a separate account all-together?

2. What "mailbox" is it talking about? Where would I have set that up? I know where to name a mailbox in the phone menus but I think that's something different, is it?

3. I have a handful of passwords. One I told the guy when I bought the phone, one for "my T-mobile" access page on the web and another for my POP account. Which password does my phone want from me?

T-Mobile is supposed to call me back within 72 hours but I don't think I'll have any better luck than I've had before.

Help me Obi Wans, you're my only hope.

-Layne

So many questions!

Really, your questions are all dependent on your email account(s). Not all dial-up providers allow for email to be sent from devices which did not directly dial up the number of the server (shame on Demon, for example, for not allowing this).

However, I would imagine that your T-mobile account would work correctly. Are you connecting over GPRS?

The set up of an account is fairly straightforward, but you need certain very specific information. I would suggest the following:

1) Delete all your existing email accounts and start again by;

2) Go to the shop where you bought the phone and ask them to set it up for you. And hassle them until they do. (Personal bugbear: shops that sell technology without helping people to use it!);

3) Visit the T-mobile website and see if there is a system there whereby the site can SMS the settings to your phone. I did this with Vodafone for my MMS settings and it worked fine.

4) If you are STILL stuck, and nobody else comes up with any better suggestions in this thread, then give me a shout and I will do what I can by email. I have a T68i and Communicam and it is just plain FUN to be able to send stuff out over it.

As far as i know, you can connect to almost all accounts via pop3 via your usual dialup number(apart from demon etc). What you need is an outgoing server ip and an incoming ip. The password that you need is for your pop account. Also, in the username bit you need to put your whole address. Hope this helps This message was posted from a T68i

Answers:

1. your POP account.

2. mailbox is usually the username that you use when you access your mail.

3. the password that you use for your mail/pop account.
