> Updating C510 firmware
Bookmark topic
I've dedcided to unlock and debrand my C510 (which i did not do the by myself) and now have the the R1DA029 prg1212-2395_Generic_KT firmware. I am very pleased to finally have a simfree/network-free phone after using Orange firmware branded phones for 5 years!
I have quite alot of questions to ask about question regarding future updates for my C510.
Would i need to use the Over The Air Service (FOTA) or SEUS?
Even through my phone is now simfree, i am still using contract Orange simcard with it. So if i did update my phone, would it find new update for the Orange or SE Generic firmware? When i tried FOTA, it came up with "Your phone already has the lastest software" The Current Software version is: 121-2395 R1DA029 090126. Customisation: CDA12345678/123 R11A 121-2420 R1DA029 1E0W Central-Europe.
I have searched and read a few thread about debranding C510's and come across posts where the it mentions CDA scripts are incorrect during flashing and can cause the "latest sofware" message and also that it may not be possible to able to do any future updates via SEUS. I'm not sure if this debrading has affected my C510 in the same way or if the FOTA was updated during the flashing. I noticed on the Wotan/Da Vanci Server that the latest firmware is the R1DA035 CID52. How stable is the R1DA029 firmware and what improvements or difference is there between the 029 and 035?
One more question : Does unlocking or de-brading the phone from the it's locked network void the Sony Ericsson 2 year warranty through that doesn't apply to me now.

If your in the UK the latest firmware is R1EA034 I think I forget cos I just sold mine. If you have debranded via SEUS then no your phone will be the generic software NOT the Orange one. I never bother with updating my software over WAP it never really works & depends your 3G coverage & data plan & network. As regards to CDA's & such things I have no idea about things like that sorry

I am in the UK and the place where i went to unlock and debrand my C510, i think my phone was connected by cable via a white tool box but i'm not sure exactly what program/servers/equipment they used to flash it or if it was through SEUS.
I found this on Youtube
Debranding and installing Flash Menus to Sony Ericsson phone and to be honest i don't think i would have the confidence and skill to able to do this on my own!

I've tried updating my C510 via SUES and got the message "No software available for your phone. Your phone already has the latest available software installed".
Could this be something to do with the FOTA file not flashed into the phone when it was being de-branded?

You warranty will be void if you change the fw on your phone. If you debrand your phone you should keep a record of its original CDA so you can get it back to its original state incase you have to send it back to SE to be fixed for some reason.
When you update you phone using SEUS, it does it according to the phone's CDA and not who the sim operator is.

My C510 was water damaged about a month ago so that's why i decided to get it unlocked and unbranded from the Orange f/w to Sony Ericsson generic f/w plus i cant send it to Sony Ericsson for any repairs now as it is liquid damage which voids the warranty anyway.
Ah ok. I'm not sure which CDA when it was on the Orange f/w or what is now flashed with the Generic one. How would i able to find out the current CDA? would i able to see it on the hidden service menu? I've already posted the new f/w details on my first post.

hi
the CDA can be found at the service menu. go to service info and then to software info. over there you will find a part saying:
customization
1201-0116 R12A bla bla bla. that's the CDA(in the bold).
