I know we are getting to the same subject but this is getting too silly with SE... Still no W995 in Dubai, and no one knows when it will be there... I am personally tired from this strategy... Aino and other phones wont be there before early 2010 or at best December 2009... Samsung announced the Jet yesterday and today I am getting the phone. After 8 years of loyalty to SE i have to let them out for good...
I think many of you have this same problem, but does anyone knows why this silly strategy?

What?? The samsung jet is supposed to be out in late Q3. Btw, the W995 is available in dubai. A guy in MR already got it from there. Also Pop lover has had a review of the W995 from dubai.
And guys this is taking it a bit too far. The Aino,Satio,Yari will all be available by Sept/Oct. Even tech leaders Nokia delay their handsets like anything. Look at the N86/ N97. Dont blame SE for every damn thing.

If SE doesnt have the resource let them delay the announcement not the phone... And yes, today I will receive the Jet, it is promising a nice experience with all the nice features... No W995 yet in Dubai, only 3 people got it with no warranty from an unknown shop... It was smuggled in and they dont already sold the 3 handsets... If anyone can help me getting a W995 from Dubai I will be gratefull cause I really like this phone.

I think SE continue to make two key mistakes -
1. Announcing each device far, far too early. Drop hints, let out the odd picture maybe, but don't throw a big press event in January when the phone isn't in shops till December, it's just a waste of everyone's time and ensures people are bored of SE phones long before they ever arrive.
2. Flogging two many dead horses at once. They should have long ago rationalised the lineup, kept a few low end phones running A200 but cut down on the midrange and moved everything else onto ONE unified smartphone platform, be that Symbian or Android (preferably not WM). With the licensing costs now nil for either of them, there's no reason why they can't base the whole lineup on one or the other, and ample room to lead the way with Android for example - but by spreading themselves too thinly they're simply struggling to get anything to market, let alone any focussed approach to smartphones.

SAMSUNG and LG seem to be VERY well resourced, i would expect SE to be in the same league as Samsung and LG seeing as all 3 are big in other electronics, i mean just look at the SONY PS3
but even that took a while to come out. I honestly dont know why it takes some long to release. Lack of staff? Financial difficulty maybe? Just hope its bug free when its available.

That's what I was talking about.... Don't announce the phone until it is ready...It's that simple.

Jet is out here as well. Samsung can do it because as discussed earlier, they are friggin' huge, does all manufacturing in house.
It's a fine line for a much smaller company like SE. Either they can rush production and risk higher manufacturing costs and defects or they take too long to get everything sorted out and lose customer interest like what happened here.
They can't really focus on one smartphone platform either if they want to make inroads in that arena. Blackberry and Nokia can do it because they have their own mail management services which offer great benefits for the business user (And because they pretty much own those respective OSs). I don't think SE is in any position to offer a backbone structure similar to it. Android is far too limited at this point to offer everything at this point and WinMo is not for everyone. IMO, they are taking the right steps by having an offering with all major OS's. This way, they won't be caught with the pants down no matter which direction the market takes. Missing the boat in the first smartphone wave (And completely squandering away the lead they had with UIQ based touch-smartphone development) was one of the costliest mistakes SE did. One wouldn't want them to repeat it for another time.
They can always thin down the lineup if the market makes a decisive step and overwhelmingly support one of these platforms like say, Android 2.0.
