Hey all,
tried out several different ways of trying to get my hotmail with a t68. Well, had no luck for the most part, so I set up my own server...
Basically the server allows you to send and recieve your e-mail via hotmail or yahoo. It works perfectly, the only problem that I would have with it is it can sometimes take a bit of time to get your mail (around 45 secs for the average send & recieve). This is because my computer has to get the details from the phone, then go off, log into the server, download the e-mail, and then upload it to the phone.
Anyway, thought I would share this server with everyone... here's how you set up a t68i, and all other phones are about the same...
-----------------------
Connect using: Your wap provider
Protocol: IMAP or POP, both work (I prefer POP)
Inc. Server: 195.137.42.7
Incoming Port: Default
Mailbox: your hotmail or yahoo e-mail address (e.g.
neo_core@hotmail.com)
Password: your password for hotmail or yahoo
Outgoing server: 195.137.42.7
Outgoing Port: Default
E-mail Address: your hotmail or yahoo e-mail address (e.g.
neo_core@hotmail.com)
Download: Headers+Text
-----------------------
All the rest of the settings are optional.
As for the password you use to login to hotmail/yahoo, the server doesn't log them, so it is secure. Not even I can gain access to them.
The server is always on the net, and always on, but it can go down from time to time (like when I have to restart my PC) so it would be best not to use the server for time sensitive e-mails as it can go down... but I will try to keep it up as much as possible.
If you have any problems, please e-mail me @
neo_core@hotmail.com and I will try to help you out.
If you like the server, please send me a wee e-mail telling me.
And, a stab in the dark here... but if anyone would be able to donate a t68 internal speaker, or tell me where I could get one, I would be very greatful

(mines crackles during calls

)
Hope it works ok for you all,
Good Luck,
NeoCORE

I got accused in another forum (general) of trying to steal hotmail passwords... here is a copy of my reply to relieve worries
-------------------------------------
Honestly, I am offended by both of your replies... but I suppose it seems to be human nature anyway to suspect the worst.
Here, Ill explain how it works.
You use your phone, log into my server with you account details (the server does not log the passwords).
The server then goes off, logs into your hotmail, pulls all the emails down and seperates them into e-mails for your phone, which is then transfered to your phone via pop or IMAP.
The server software is called Izzymail (search in google and you will see it exists) And at no point does it log passwords, as I specified in the forum post... and honestly Jimbo, what makes you think your e-mail is all that interesting anyway... and think what your saying out... if I was someone trying to get hotmail addresses, don't you think I would be better targeting a larger section of users, rather than just the few people who want to access their e-mail via their phone...
Hope this clears things up for you, and proves it is not a hoax...
Hope you like the server

Sorry,
It runs on my server computer in my house, which is used for dedicated servers and stuff... and downloading through ADSL... which means sometimes it either get processor wise maxed or, or bandwidth maxed out. You should always get it within 3 tries though (please don't hammer the server either... 30 min at least for checkin interval.)

make sure that your username is your full hotmail/yahoo e-mail address
e.g.
neo_core@hotmail.com
And of course your password is correct (Is hotmail/yahoo case sensitive?)
Hope this helps, if not get back to me
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me create a few mirrors.
I am unsure, but I would think that people from the US find my server a bit slow, due to it being in the UK (hence I hear of some poeple getting time out errors/ cannot find server)
If you are interested, please contact me and I will guide you as how to set it up (really simple).
(one thing is, you must have a static IP for this to work...)
Cheers,
NeoCORE
