I have just been experimenting with 3 methods of connecting my laptop to the internet while I am away from WiFi.
1. T-Mobile - web 'n' walk USB modem - average speed - 1500 kbit/sec
2. O2 - C905 - cable connection - average speed - 1600 kbit/sec
3. O2 - C905 - bluetooth - average speed - 1400 kbit/sec
These results where obtained using an average of several tests using
http://www.broadband-expert.co.uk/broadband/speedtest/ and are far from scientific. They are just a rough observation.
The thing is I may as well stop paying for my web 'n' walk USB modem and just use my O2 phone via bluetooth. I don't even have to get it out of my pocket. I get free data on my O2 contract you see.
Just posting this for interest really and to see if any of you guys have observations of your own.

@walgman
I take it you thought that you would get speeds close to the maximum your devices are capable of?
That doesn't happen unfortunately. Read
this for more info.
I have used a 1GB data plan with a V640i (3.6Mbps) and currently a 3GB data plan with a Vodem (7.2Mbps) but it makes no difference, I get a regular 1250kb. Ironically, the future of Mobile broadband
is reliant on fixed broadband so I won't be renewing my data plan but will be reconnecting my landline instead, when my plan runs out in 18 months time.
