Hi, Ive got a SE W960 and have had it from new for about 9 months now. Just recently ive noticed problems trying to charge the phone and am just wondering what the cause could be.

Basically when i plug the charger in, the green light at the bottom comes on solid and the batter bar on the screen 'fills' with charge. But even if i leave it for an hour or so it still 'fills' from empty to full (ie it doesnt get full). Ive tried leaving it for a few hours and even then it still doesnt charge at all, and when i take it off the charger it is either flat or nearly empty.

I havent got another charger to try, but i have tried it on the USB cable and even then it shows that its charging but doesnt actually charge. Was just wondering any ideas on what the problem could be =(

Also i have noticed that once the battery is completely flat, and the phone turned off, i can plug the charger in and then it sometimes it charges properly (although it takes a few attempts). Hopefully this description is understandable, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, kish

Hi. I have the same problem with this phone. I even reinstalled the software of the phone, nothing changed. The guys at the official SE store (Budapest, Hungary) could not give any explanation, they just checked the battery with some device, it seemed to be OK. So they suggested to send the phone to the official SE service point. That was more than two weeks ago. Still waiting.

Take out your battery and clean its (battery) contacts. If that doesn't work try a different charger.

Tried everything. The USB data cable did not charge either. When disconnected the charger, the battery indicator showed less charge than before. Will see what the service point says. But thanks anyway

Got a call from the service point. The say it is a main board problem, the repair will cost more than the phone itself...

Thanks for the reply, So far i have got by with the phone by just waiting for the battery to be completely flat, ie it turns itself off. And then when i charge it it seems to work, Unfortunetly im out of warranty now (since i was on an 18month contract and the phone is warrantied for only 12 months apparently). Therefore i will wait out my contract before i can get a replacement phone with a new contract.

I too tried everything i could, unfortunetly its just not worth spending the money on the repair

It seems to me, that the official SE service point just did not want to mess around with the repair, as there is no warranty. I asked whether it is common with this phone, they never met such problem before. They returned the phone, I tried charging all night, no result.

Being out of warranty doesn't mean it can't be fixed. What reason was given?
